Advice on good independent garage in Herts/Essex
Discussion
Having had a 111 point check and finding a number of issues with my Cayman S that need sorting (both lower arm bushes, NSR outer drive shaft replacement etc.) I have decided to give up the Porsche extended warranty and go my own way. Decision helped by the fact that I recently fitted a new non-Porsche battery and the OPC were insisting on a Porsche battery at £380!
So that said, I am looking for advice on really good independent garages on the Herts/Essex border (I live in Bishop's Stortford). Any advice?

Not exactly local - but if you are stuck there is JZ Machtech in Kings Langley or Auto 2000 in Kempston, Bedford. Both are Porsche specialists.
I'd second Auto 2000 - a bit of a trek from you but they have a loan car for no extra charge and seem to be very reasonably priced - worth a call to discuss the jobs, what parts you want to use (genuine or not etc) and see how they compare.I used to use the OPC for their fixed price service which was a competitive price but went elsewhere if any remedial work was needed (with those other garages often not agreeing with what the OPC said needed doing!).

I used to use Autostrasse in Coggeshall when I lived in the area years ago for my 986 and they knew their stuff - small, friendly outfit who've been around for many years. They don't have a flash set up like JZM or similar, but then you pay extra for JZM's flash set-up.
Autostrasse no longer exist! See other recent threads on PH.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
