What do we think? Will there be any or is it just hype?

On the GT4 ... yes. The magazine hype has already started about how good the car is and "if" there is limited production then people will have to pay a premium to get a car. Just like the 991 GT3. Spyder ....... I`m not so sure about as its a bit more normal . As in ... no special ( GT3 ) bits.

Depends on how many 981 GT4's & Spyders are being bought by speculators and hit the market when available.

A glut of cars will undermine buyers confidence in future values and undermine any premiums.

Interesting.

Both cars typically underpriced and limited run.....GT4 c 150, Spyder c 80. Whilst GT4 more track orientated Spyder far more niche with £2k buckets as standard unlike GT4, both cars likely similar pace on A and B roads, and both usable on daily basis.

Preuninger recently stated, probably accurately, that all near future GT cars will remain normally aspirated so whilst the GT4 will retain na the next Spyder will probably morph into a turbo which could well make this 981 the last of a line and as such highly desirable.

I predict a £25k premium on the GT4 and £20k on the Spyder.

This is assuming that in the next 12months the GT4 RS and or a hotter boxster with GT parts doesn't get announced. To me seems highly likely that a GT4 RS is coming with PDK - S. I know some OPCs have even hinted at a PDK version coming in 2017

Spot the future owners starting to dream and talk up prices! nono

I can't see anyone paying a £20k premium on a £60k (base) Spyder or £25k premium on a £65k (base) GT4.

Does it matter?

They'll be great cars and will hopefully minimise depreciation - that's all anyone can ask. Looking forward to mine.

Don't need to talk any prices up......as if this could be influenced by a few randomers on the internet....biggrin:

Fact is both cars are severel.y limited supply and most OPCs had up to 40 letters of intent and deposits for each. People were similarly slow to react to the 991 GT3 in 2013 which was grossly underpriced and massively oversubscribed resulting in the current £50k premium and there were c200 cars for the UK.

Incidentally the chances of a GT4 PDK are slim (and I want one!)....a GT4 RS even less likely. Furthermore, even if these were produced, the values of the more cooking models would be little affected again due to limited production similar to the 991 GT3 RS.........

Its a 'limited' supply for the uk, you can or could still get lhd allocation if you desired.

So yes its underpriced for uk, it could be overpriced on the continent

Good post, just not sure about the numbers - I think the UK will be allocated more cars (as was the case with the 991GT3 you quoted)

£100k for GT4? I'd prefer a LHD 991 GT3 or a rHD 7.2 GT3. Stiff competition at that level.

I would not be surprised if the current spyder in say10 years could be as much as a 981 spyder if not more!
But i am not sure if the 981 spyder will carry a £20k premium in the near future!

With only 4 UK 2014 Boxster GTS available at £70k the Spyders premium is a forgone conclusion.......watch this space!

Hmmm.

I paid no where near £70k for a very lightly used 2014 Boxster GTS from my local OPC very recently.

I'm a Spyder customer and expect them to hold their value for a while. However I'll be surprised if they command a premium for anything other than a fleeting moment after the first ones hit the road. GT4 may be a different situation.

but they are still building GTS cars for another year or so.

The steering kills the 981 range for me to move my older cars for one , and many people think the same.

I guess PDK lovers who only have to drive half the car don't mind the steering also being taken away from them ;-)

Surprised at the comments regarding the 987 Spyder being worth more in a few years than a 981 Spyder, long before any road test reports have been published. Having had 3 years with a 987 Spyder then switching to a 981 S, I can tell you that I've no intention of giving someone my New Spyder when it arrives plus cash to get back into a 987 version.

I'm not bothered if there's a premium either, as it's the Boxster with a proper 911 engine that I've always wanted and I'll be keeping it.

That's the whole point.......far greater supply of GTS available at OPCs at a mind boggling albeit asking price of £70k for 1 yr old....although clearly deals can be done.

Lol what you say about the steering......I can guarantee the Spyder and GT4 steering will be identical despite the latters GT3 front bits. So you won t like the GT4 one bit then!!!?

Porsche have improved their electric steering on these later models e, g the 991 GTS is substantially better than the earlier 991 Carrera S setup although clearly still not quite up there with the 997 hydraulic system for ultimate feel.

Another lol re the PDK......and theres you craving a 458 Italia I.e. auto the box of ehich is widely regarded not just by me as being inferior to the GT3s PDK S..........driving

Why so many individual Spyder threads?

Who's getting 981 Spyder?

Premium on GT4/Spyder

Swap 981 Spyder slot for GT4 slot

Why not keep it all in one place, like the Boxster Spyder thread?
