Hello,

I am interested to hear if anyone who has bought or buying a new Cayman 981 this year has achieved any good discounts?

Or when you should be walking into a dealer, month end, year end etc etc

Lastly apart from the turbo engines coming out ( next year !? ) , Porsche don’t have any mk2 versions coming out?

Thank you,

Phil

Some threads mentioned 8-12% on the base Boxster with PCP (which you can pay off if <30 days)

I ordered mine in December before Christmas, as many here mentioned it's good to do it before end of quarter or year when they closing their reporting periods.

Managed to get 10% off list on custom order car + 1 extra year of warranty for free and free 1st service.
It took me several visits though to secure such a deal.

Thank you for your replies.

Looks like 10% could be gained then.

Can i ask when the next quarter end is?

What do you think to my two specs. The first is full fat, the 2nd one is trying to save some ££

If you are looking at savings I'd think about ditching Bose. I have it and am not impressed. Most of the other options are very much personal aesthetic preferences, and only you can judge whether they represent good value for you.

I think you will get between 8% to 10% discount on a stock or showroom car, but it will probably have to be on the Porsche PCP Finance scheme to achieve these levels of discount. Last week of June would be a good time as they are nearing the end of the 2nd quarter and will be chasing targets and registration bonus, happy hunting & let us know how you get on. wink

Do you think these levels would be likely on a Spec changeable car?

No I don't.

But prior to buying my Cayman, my local Porsche Centre once invited me to spec their next stock car for them as they would have a little more margin to play with in it. I thought that was a nice move on their part but declined the offer as I knew as soon as I saw it I would have to buy it.

IIRC, the conversation was a December one based upon Pistonheads threads about super discounts for end of year that weren't on offer in real life at my Porsche Centre when I enquired.

No I don't either its all about shifting the metal you will have to work for it as well, you will need to get at least half a dozen on the go making sure that they are not from the same dealer group. Some dealer groups own up to three outlets i.e. Inchcape they own Porsche Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Glasgow, so you will be on all of their systems the first time you make enquiries on a particular car.

So for me living in Bournemouth I would make enquiries at my local, followed by Exeter, Swindon, East Sussex to get an idea of stock and potential deals, last year I spoke to a dealer in the Midlands with a heavy spec Cayman S ex PEC car and they offered me £10k off with three days of September to go it can be done you just have to work at it, for me its all part of the fun biggrin

Ex-PEC car?! I would want to PAY £10k, let alone see £10k off the price.

Depending on your desired spec, you'll probably get a better deal buying ex-demo/nearly new - they seem to spec the cars generously and do offer a sensible price for a lot of these. Some dealers offer keener prices than others. Leicester and Guildford come to mind. I have been thinking and thinking about buying a Cayman for about 8 months, so have lots of different quotes and practice in discussing the financing options. That said, Reading offered me a measly 800 off for taking financing on a (fairly keenly priced) Cayman. Seems too little, no?

Not all - Glasgow recently had a Boxster GTS 'bling spec' for which they were asking £65k and seemed offended and surprised when I declined.

Same in Sheffield. Red Boxster GTS 2015 (64) with less than 2,000 on the clock for £63k. I punched the options into the configurator and sure enough the 'new' list price would have been £63k... I thought new cars depreciated as soon as you drove them off the forecourt?

Depreciation obviously only works in one direction.

I ended up ordering my own spec for £62k, but the downside being a November build slot. But I can be patient, I can be patient,... frown

2000 really bad miles, too - more like 10k of normal use, I expect.

Yep, these cars will be used as loaners as well as demos- when was the last time you had a loaner and drove about like Miss Daisy? Choose your spec, negotiate a deal and place the order on a new one.
