986 interior upgrades?
Discussion
I just wondered if it was possible to get any of the coloured trim parts for the car interior aftermarket?
My car doesn't have the coloured panel around the gear lever and back to the rear glovebox (I'd google it, if I knew what it was called!); I'd like it to lift the interior a bit, if possible...!
Is there anything else like that, that is possible to do aftermarket?

I did all the interior plastics on my 986. It's a "SportDesign" with a textured matt silver finish and it was looking very tired in places. Just to be totally clear, I didn't paint anything that wasn't already factory painted, I just restored the slighty tired paint but I was very happy with the end results.

The trim that goes round the centre vents/ac control/radio and the one that surrounds the dials. A little colour helps lift an otherwise dark and quite somber interior, especially in winter with roof up.
Exactly why I want to. Thanks for the above. I don't want to do all the bits & pieces, but I've always liked the coloured piece around the gear lever; I'll investigate a few of the other bits. I guess a nice gloss silver to match the exterior will go well.
Different risk aversion of course but for me in pure cost terms, that is 50% more for the job and it's not a necessity. Having removed it a few times, there are a handful of screws and if you are careful enough to bag them and even just leave them in the glovebox you can't go far wrong.
Here's my old painted one
