Next Friday we're getting to Bruges for late afternoon, night there before a 2pm visit to Carnewal with the Boxster. Any trip advice that I should note? Anything worthy to checkout in Bruges or on route to the place or similar? Routes to avoid? They've offered to drop us at a local place to eat while the work is done....is that the best bet or is a wander locally a better option?

Just dont want to get back and someone say "oh, did you get to see xyz while you where over there"....and I knew nothing about it smile

Bruges is quite nice but the drive there from Calais is freaking boring...

There are some nice roads around Gert's place, ask him and he'll point them out. But quite a lot of roadworks and closed roads when we went earlier this year.

We just stayed in his place (gave us teas, coffees, biscuits and wifi). It's only 2 hours so it's pretty easy to kill the time with your ipad/phone and they have some magazines there too. And my clamps and bolts were all rusted to hell to if yours are in good condition then it should be quicker.
