Clearly he drove a pdk with multi function steering wheel. Awful.

But PDK with standard sport design wheel is the non plus ultra. Perfect, intuitive.

Sorry to hear he could have missed a chance to go for pdk by testing it properly. It gives to the car that additional precision with gear changes that are as fast as an eye blink. But it's pricey for sure.....

Immensely enjoyable read. Captures many of the emotions of selecting and test driving a batch of 'similar' cars.

Such a change from some posts on here smile

what was the PDK problem? are they still offering buttons as well as shifters? if so madness
On the GTS looking at the configurator you get paddles as standard - but lose them if you go for the multifunction wheel. On the standard and S you don't even have the option of paddles at all now. While I'm not a big fan of paddles which move with the wheel on a road car, I still think they should be an option, particularly as the sports wheel is so much nicer (IMOP) than the rather drab standard item.

I don't know why they've got I such a muddle over the steering wheel, stalks and paddles. Seems very odd.

The one thing I wanted - a sports steering wheel with buttons for radio volume - was never available anyway. It's a little frustrating that in a manual RHD car the volume control is obstructed by the gear lever. (Not a problem if LHD)

Really paddles are no more available on the S? O_O

So what's the standard, multi function?

No, just the standard nothing wheel (with the arcade flippers for pdk). The multifunction wheel is a £300+ extra. Extracting the urine springs to mind.

Not the time to suggest that I prefer the buttons to paddles then.................

Having decide that paddles were the way to go, having had thenm in other vehicles, prior. The 'buttons' are good imho as you can change with either hand and regardless of where the wheel is...

Ok gets ma coat......

exits stage left........

I think the real answer is that paddles which rotate with the wheel are not the right way to go ON A ROAD CAR. On the track your hands are fixed on the wheel (you don't "shuffle"), on the road you can't do that unless you have much higher geared steering than all but a few road cars have. So you "shuffle", at least on tight bends, junctions and the like - and "lose where the paddles - if they move with the wheel - or the buttons are. So personally I'm torn between using the paddles on the straight (or I want to override the auto) and using the gearlever, when I'm in manual.

If the paddles were fixed and didn't rotate with the wheel then it would be SO much better.

I just picked up my CS with PDK and I truly agree with the comments regarding rotating paddles, very confusing on a large fast but tight roundabout. Coming recently from high performance manual cars I now find that changing gear using the stick is far more natural and rewarding. Today I just used the paddle shifts when I was less frenetic.

Sorry don't understand.

What is the standard on a CS with PDK? Paddle, as GTS?

NO! Flippers - it's crass. The multifunction wheel still just has flippers (as it always has), so no paddle option at all.
