Going to view a 997 tomorrow, through a non OPC, so am enquiring about the situation with warranties.

It is out of its official Porsche warranty, and my understanding is that I would not be able to put an OPC warranty on it as its being sold through non OPC. Is this correct, or can you get Porsche to carry out a check of the vehicles, and then get a warranty put on it ?

If it is not possible to get an OPC warranty, are their other warranties worth taking out ?

First you get your chosen OPC to do the 111 point check, we assume your car passes, otherwise yoou must get them to do the work. And remember any non Porsche parts fitted if discovered will result in fail or need to be replaced.

Then you get Porsche to carry out a big service.

Then you wait a number of months ( 3 or 4 ? ) .

Then you buy your Extended Porsche Warranty. Note, it's basically an Insurance Policy, there are strict terms and conditions, do a search here.

Before you even consider it your car must be under 9 yrs old and less than 100,000 miles on inception.

I am going through exactly this at the moment with my 2010 997 Gen 2 Turbo S with 13,500 miles.

I purchased the car from an independent with a 3rd party warranty for 3 months. At 90 days, the car can go through the OPC 111 point check and if it passes and the service schedule is up to date then they will sell you the Porsche Warranty.

My 90 days ends on Thursday 5th Nov so I have it booked in at the OPC for the 111 point check on Monday 2nd Nov. If it passes then they will keep the car until Friday 6th November when they will be able to put the Porsche warranty on it. If anything shows up on the 2nd Nov then I still have a few days to claim against the 3rd party warranty sold with the car.

Well, that's the plan!

Just to add to the other replies;

  • the Porsche warranty price quoted includes a year's recovery, about £160 if I recall correctly from last year. You don't have to pay this.
  • you are not supposed to have any non-Porsche parts on the car, e.g. after market exhaust.

Hi, I know this is a bit of an old thread but can I ask the following.

1, how much is the 111 point check for a Cayenne?
2. NO service required as long as all up to date and main dealer?
3. ANy idea on costs for warranty?

Cheers
Matt

Jan 2012 Cayenne diesel

Jan 2015 prices

Inspection - £180+ VAT ( discounted to free when warranty and service bought)
Warranty 1 year £940 (no VAT) roadside ass £169 (no vat)

For a post 2011 cayenne I wouldn't bother - wife ran one for 18 months (and had all the paper work from the single previous owner)

As far as I know zero warranty claims in 5 years.

Thanks guys, will be post 11 face lift, I normally buy main dealer and currently in a 4.4 Range Rover but they are too much money at this time for me so thought I would give the cayenne a go (wife's idea) Now I know this information it makes buying the right colour with my spec a bit easier, if deciding on Porsche spec is ever easy. I spent 3 months looking for a Porsche Boxster for the wife.

My friendly OPC service chap told me that the Cayenne Diesels have a problem with oil leaks and that it is a big expense to fix. Apparently even though the engine is the same as the Panamera the Panamera doesn't suffer the same problem. The Touran VW has the same engine and also suffers. I got this info when I mentioned the him that I fancied a cheap Cayenne diesel (2010+) and he recommended that I steer clear...

Anyone have any experience of OPC's attitude to 6 year old tyres with plenty of tread when it's warranty renewal time? Small print seems to suggest new ones will be required. Thanks.
