I think we'll find over 400 making their way to the UK so maybe some flippers will be burned. I can't see them loosing that much value below list so I'm quite happy with my purchase and that it is a cracking car.
Obviously if the next GT4 does turn out to be a turbo4 there maybe some flippers crying a little! (I know they have said it will be NA)
I agree it will be a depreciation busting car - great value for anyone paying list or reasonable overs - it's just such a shame to see so many for sale - worlds gone mad ! I agree numbers will be far higher than a lot thought - I always said between 400 - 500 - enjoy your car Obviously if the next GT4 does turn out to be a turbo4 there maybe some flippers crying a little! I wanna see them out on track being enjoyed ... as so many '64RS were when they were the bargain of the year at £30k !!
Actually, the least I paid was £35k for a 30,000 mile LHD car which had had a fair bit of paint !
Strangely, it's the only car I ever picked up and when I brimmed it for the journey home, it took over 85 litres !!

New GT4 at £92k on Autotrader, another slightly used at £85k.
Falling... falling...
I think falling, whilst technically correct is not quite right.Falling... falling...
Whats happening is a correction after the initial insanity. 20 years ago, a car like this would have just depreciated like everything else. Less of course, but still depreciated.
The GT4 will now depreciate, but very slowly.
Too much (used) supply, too little demand!
Could anyone kindly hazard a guess at what the RRP of the Agate Grey car at GVE London would have been? The configurator has been taken off the Porsche UK website and I was not in a position to buy one new so am not familiar with the exact pricing.
Also, any guesses what the likely SOR commission rate a dealer like that would be taking?

you know how it is never a straight line...
both are pretty good value imo. all the mkt uncertainty is driving prices lower e.g. brexit
once that is removed, the px could go back up. Remember, we are in a world where asset prices are artificially managed via QE.
whilst that doesn't mean what's happened before in the 80s couldn't happen again, understand that the dynamics are completely different.
imo, wait for the VOTE on 23rd and then decide if it is the right time.....

I revisited this topic for the first time in a few months. Then I had a look at the classifieds. Blimey, 34 GT4s for sale and that's not including any that the OPCs might have on the quiet. The private sale at 85k is instructive in terms of pricing today and the dealers at 115k are looking a bit out of date.
Let's see how supply and demand pan out over the summer and then see what it looks like as we head into winter. Somewhat softer I'd say and that would be when I might hop into one. It seems like any colour and spec is now on offer.
I do find it a little sad that these great cars are languishing with a few hundred miles, in some cases no miles. A high mileage one is considered 3k miles! What does that say for price when some have 10k on them? Once the new car sheen is taken off you can deduct a few more grand.
I reckon a 10k miles car in early winter could start with a 7 and I might then buy one if I can get the right spec. They'd be back at list essentially so still free motoring (largely) for a year. I do struggle with "overs", it just doesn't feel right.

I think you miss the point that the £85k car is a pure stock £65k car.
Most cars seems to be £75k list. Add PCCB or pts and you can be up at £85k list.
That £85k car seems expensive to me as still £20k overs.
I would take £90k for mine now and it's a £75k car with loads of kit so would be much better value.
Just like 991 Gt3 start at £120k now they still go upto £165k
Like wise 458 etc
Spec is key to price, the £85k car for sale is a one off zero spec car and shows a healthy £20k profit.

Let's say it sells for 80 privately. I imagine he was offered mid 70s by the trade. Not likely to be 20k profit either way. A few months ago it was a big deal when any GT4 was listed below 100k. As to spec, it's all vital to the first owners, but by the time you get to the second or third, they want a GT4 and the uprated spec is nice rather than hugely valuable. There will still be a delta on prices, but the range will narrow on the extra value attributed to carbon seats, a specced-up stereo etc. You can see this on all the older models. My point though was that the volume for sale is up, the asking prices are down and we are in peak season. Let's revisit in November! Either way there are still going to see robust values vs list and depreciation as a % of value will be, imho, rather less than on a comparably priced sports car.
Spec and miles have always been key to price as can been seen in the 991gt3 prices, the base cars are bloody hard to sell.
Make him an offer as you say you would buy at £79k :-)
I bet you don't though as you also want the spec :-)
I just paid £7k more for my R than the cheapest R for sale due to spec.
People have a choice, buy a cheaper car with no spec or buy a more expensive one with spec.
Talking prices is cheap parting with money is the real deal.
Dealers will talk down spec come part ex as they want to buy your car at base price, but back in the real world REAL buyers are fussy buggers and want ALL the spec I find.
That car at £85k is doing every owner a massive favour and it's the perfect base line , if some one offered me £85k I would say if you want a £85k car go buy the black one, stops low offer bullstters right there.

That's completely fair. We all know spec counts especially w.r.t porsches.
