The Blue GT4 never sold in a day. Its been on sale for minimum 3 months and started of at £96K I think back in August.

You are also assuming that he got what was advertised. You are also assuming that every OPC car gets sold at sticker price which isn't always true.
I thought the private Blue one was new to the market, if not it was never going to sell at £96k and is way past the £15k overs I tell people NOT to pay more than.

one can only go on sticker price as no one will say what they paid for a car these days.

private sales and SOR will always take offers, but if your car is the cheapest for that spec level one has no need to lower the price really, buyers buys or goes with out, it cannot get any more simple.

OPCs suffer with targets and financial constraints like the rest of us. I was offered a discount of £11k on a used Cayman GT4 last week, but didn't take it as it was base spec. Higher spec may not have got such a discount but they are out there and prices are negotiable.
How much was a base spec GT4 in the 1st place to get £11k off, I rest my cast ! and you still did not want it because it's a low spec car !

I'm really struggling to work out what your point is in between your rants. Let me tell you mine. Personally, I think the GT4 is enjoying elevated prices from list, for whatever reason. It's a great car, but either Porsche got the pricing strategy way off, or the GT enthusiasts/investors have driven the prices up. I accept that there is absolutely nothing you can personally do about that, other than watch the market and enter it at the time you see fit. All I wanted to prove in my last post was that due to a lower spec and target requirements, I was offered a significant reduction on a GT4. I'm pretty sure, but have no evidence, that when negotiating a deal on a higher spec car, you could get a discount. Not the £11k I was offered, but a discount nonetheless. That's it.

what was the price in the end of the low spec car ?

as I say no one wants to post prices they buy cars at, so it's a bit moot till you post what you were offered it for.

only people driving up the price was buyers, not sellers. if the buyers are there the sellers will take advantage.

Once upon a time when i was looking at a R8, MK Audi had one in stock and anyway long story short, they knocked 10k off without even asking as they wanted it gone. Admittedly this was before the current price boom but still there

Well, in this instance the deal involved a part exchange, which of course further complicated the issue, but suffice to say, the car was advertised for £82k. The first offer was £9500 cost to change. It ended up as £2k cash back to me. So, I suppose it wasn't really £11k off, as I'm sure the margins involved on my car would recoup something for them, but the point being they were very keen to sell it this month and for a discounted price. Most definitely because it was a low spec car that is likely to attract fewer reasonably well informed buyers, but for somebody it could be a great way to get into GT4 ownership.

This is what happens when there is an over supply, the people who really want / need to sell will be happy to break even or sell for a small loss just to get rid. Deals are out there to be had and in my opinion it's now becoming a buyers market due to over supply. Remember a lot of these would of been bought through finance and have hefty monthly payments. If you ant using it and it is starting to deprecate there's no point in keeping it.

This aside I would imagine there are plenty who will be happy to keep paying month by month and be glad they still have a gt4 parked in the garage 😀

Really good point about the personal finance angle, although a little double edged as the seller will want to maximise return to pay off the balloon/outstanding final payment. But if they've made any sort of profit, they may let it go for a reduced price.

I wouldn't say it was a double edged sword. Think about it, if he or she has monthly payment and they are not using it and its deprecating it will end up costing them in the long run. Most will also be bought on pcp with some form of ballon which may need refinancing. Imo the gt4 bought a new buyer into the GT market and some would of stretched themselves.

Well my one sold for 95k, good spec car.

I had it for around 11 months so can't complain.

Seeing a few getting close to the 80k mark, may see these flirt into the high 70's soon given winter weather.

I am not sure it's a buyers market if you are a fussy buyer.

when you split the cars down into CS pack or not (there is no right and wrong choice), but there is a split what people want, then you choose a colour, there are not that many for sale really once you even get to those 2 main items.

Add in buckets and the odd must have trinket which is different for every one, there is maybe even no choice at all !
Cayman R buyers always compromise as prices of options made the Cayman R a bloody expensive car, so my ideal spec Cayman R has not even been made.

people never get what they want even at £50k 2nd hand in the R market.

wittle down what you really want in the GT4 and colour and I think you might be shocked just how little choice you have at £90k

Sold it about 2 weeks ago.

Not many miles but I did use it. The miles stayed off in part because I have a 911 also which I use every day and I am working so much that I simply did not get a chance to take it out often that and I only have one parking space so I had to park it quite far from where I live (30 min away).

But I'm pleased I got to enjoy the car for a while, I will use the money to upgrade my 911 to the 991 GTS soon

Been away a few days, what have I missed. Oh wait, one poster failing miserably to talk the price down, and one failing hopelessly to talk his spec up!

Some simple to follow information for you: Low spec cars entering the market, as we approach winter, do not mean the prices are falling, the 'overs' are similar to what they have been for the last few months. As for spec, all personal of course, but I really doubt a keen buyer would give a jot whether it has fake carbon trim or not, and especially not pay more for it.
