Buckets are great if you want a track based car and therefore the CS pack goes with them very well. Can't see what you'd one without the other.

However, if regular track days are not your thing then 18 ways are the sensible / practical / comfortable option my view.

FFs to put this rather boring seat argument finally to bed just ask any buyer of GT cars at any OPC which car is more desirable to the market hence worth more and they will confirm a GT4 with buckets retails up to around £4k more than one with sports seats.

Yes there will always be those who prefer sports seats or adaptives but these are in an absolute minority and quite clearly to the GENERAL MARKET I.e. the majority buying a GT4 bucket seats are a priority.

Also, whilst some MAY find the sports or adaptives more comfortable, the MAJORITY of GT4 buyers find the buckets not only more comfortable for the intended use of the car but also more suited to its use whether that be track or rapid road use.

18 ways hold you very well for brisk road driving and are very comfortable for most shapes and sizes, A GT4 with 18 ways is the best Cayman for the road - quite different from a GT3 which you are less likely to choose primarily for the road.

Accept that some people would not buy without buckets, others would not buy with buckets.

I respect your view but I completely disagree. I had GT3 RS (with buckets obviously) and they were great for track work when fully harnessed in place. On the road they were a PITA and not comfortable.

In the GT4 the 18 ways are no brainer if you want comfort and adjustability for road driving.

Buckets with no cage / harness is the oddest combo. Either go the full CS hog or get comfortable in my view.

Well said. The GT4 is better suited to the road than other GT products making the 18 ways the perfect combo.

I love the personal comments Scott thank,s for calling me a knob, it made me laugh, as personal comments make people look like Trolls which they try and make some thing from it and seem to always fail !

I am not obsessed with seats at all, just pointing out GT cars really need buckets to sell, and to quote "I love my Sports seats in my GTS" is a moot point when it comes to GT cars.

Chairs is the name which has been funny and has caught on and upsets people with chairs.

I love gay yellow and not worried at all, it looks great, you don't, woo hoo don't let it upset you too much :-)

But what does concern me is your obsession with knobs and Gays in the post ! , is it a coming out post ?

After 182 pages I think this post should be put to bed ( moderators please put a stop on ) otherwise I think the next round of pages that what one should have in there own car or what is best for resale is the colour of the stitching that would/ should be in a GT car!

Don't be such a killjoy ! ! Just because all and sundry aren't contributing to it, doesn't mean they're not enjoying popping in once in a while to read the quite frankly infantile standard of posting ! ! smile

this post was about values and cars for sale, I find it interesting to follow if you pick through the guff , I would have expected prices to soften after the initial supply/demand issue also worth noting prices should really be coming down to a lower level due to some cars will now be approaching a year old and will have been used so would expect some higher mileage and cars showing signs of use all things that reduce a cars value. Will be good to revisit this in the next 12 months and see where things are.

the higher miles cars are a bit cheaper as are the cars without buckets.

The problem I see now is these types of cars look very poor value at £85k over a fully speced up car a few £k more.

I think there will be a bigger divide in price over winter, the low spec cars will have to drop more to tempt people in.

Nothing new here, the same happed with Cayman R, GT3 etc etc some people set a limit for a Cayman R at £40k but you cannot get a low miles fully spec car for that, but that seems a limit for 20% buyers so they will buy the lower spec cars with +30k miles on them

what's always funny is these buyers for R's and GT4's want the top spec cars for the lower spec money and try to play cars off each other when buying, sadly it don't work for the buyer unless the seller is in a rush to give a car away, so I guess it's always worth a low bid as a buyer, as one can only say no.

That can be see here with people saying the GT4 market has fallen though the floor when in fact the higher spec cars are the same price they have been for months.

Yes there is a bum for every seat, and if you want normal seats in a GT4 you could low bid an offer for sure and prob get the car sub £80k at the end of the day the GT4 was only £64k in base spec.

where as the 981 Spyder got buckets free !

just my 2p, I sold my car this week as MrsLizard has decided that the wedding and corp tax bill are more important. The dealer I went through had a number of enquirers and also approached Porsche within their group for a cost. The car had CS/Buckets but not much else, Porsche themselves said they didnt want it because it lacked NAV and sport chrono, privately the people who looked at it said it was just missing NAV. After all that though I did get what I wanted for it... though im missing it already frown

oh and a quick nod to the buckets, very comfy for road use, just a pain to get out of if you park next to a high curb biggrin

Although these 'free' buckets are the folding GT2 seats....great seats and actually more suited to the Spyder as they can be heated.....essential of course on a convertible.

buyers seem to love nav whatever the ethos of the vehicle

buyers need for Nav on a car like this I find crazy, luckily I am blessed with common sense and can usually navigate myself by planning my route and reading signs, I had nav in my last 981 and the couple times I tried it I found it useless taking long winded ways to my destination, If I am out and about should I ever want a diversion or latest traffic updates I would much rather use google maps on my phone thats free .

and Chrono had it on 3 of my Porsches now and still not yet used it and in all honestly I am not sure what it actually does but must say the clock in my Spyder looks the part .

Every buyer is different, if go GT4 it will mainly be road use and the odd track day, but the road use will be A/B euro tours hoon'in. So whilst the 18-way seats make sense, I still want the bucket seats, I've sat in them and find them comfy and hold me in better. NAV in the 981 i don't think its great so not really worried about it. Not much Id want, Buckets, Phone Connection, leather dash...........jobs a good'n.

I been away few weeks just having a read through and the car I mentioned before seems even better value now - have GT4's come off a fair bit then? Before anyone says anything it isn't mine I have one which I love just a bit surprised...
