Looks like Swindon have made a mistake.

Nice to see one getting into the ballpark where I might be tempted. Keep posting them up as that one will most likely be gone before I'm ready. smile

I'm only speculating, but at just a few K over list, I wonder if this is a 'return to dealer for list in exchange for a GT3 slot car'. It wouldn't surprise me, this one is priced too cheap when compared and others.

Surely not Steve, they're all manuals you know, not your preferred PDK... wink

Plus it's that awful blue - the desperate choice.

Yes you're probably right mate. Think I'll wait until next year when they're under list. wink

p.s. Have you noticed that the 'Unicorn' is for sale?

I have smile It's stunning car with amazing spec, but I suspect many will struggle with the price for what is after all an "S". Granted it's the prefect spec, but it is still an S.

It's a 2010 Cayman S with PCCB's, folding carbon buckets, PASM, PSE, LSD, true unicorn spec for an S.

Off topic, but the "Unicorn" isn't actually the cheapest 987 with PCCBs currently for sale. Check out this little gem:

Amazing to think the price (new) for the brakes now equals about quarter of the value of the car! laugh

NO doubt about it, a smidge more money invested in an R has to be a safer bet.

Any evidence for that? Smaller (and presumably) lighter wheels come with higher profile and heavier tyres. Certainly not the case 19 to 18 wheels in my experience. Far bigger variance in the weight of different brands of tyres (3kg + at the same size)

I'll believe evidence - I've weighed 18s and 19s and seen the difference in tyre tests between different brands.

I like them a lot. Nice find ! ! I'd want to give those PCCB's a close look at that mileage (though without wanting to sound derogatory, I'd guess they're not exactly taxed on a Cayman S....) in fact at 350mm with six pots I'd suggest they're well over specced.

The other 2 987s are pre facelift chocolate engine so not really comparing apples with apples. The unicorn is my old car and is a very special spec as is well documented in the advert. It's about £7k cheaper than the equivalent R but is wanting for nothing unless you 'need' aluminium doors, 10bhp and passive suspension.

I suspect it will hold the difference between itself and an R long term, always being a little cheaper but offering good value.

Like I said there is a much bigger (3kg measured) difference in tyre brands weight than (subjective) impressions or the odd pound here or there. So if you are interested in reducing unsprung weight then choose your tyre brand and the wheel construction (forged vs cast) first which will save you kgs. Sure going to 17" wheels may save the odd pound or two - and will change the steering feel of the car which you may or may not like - but it's more to do with the profile of the tyre than the weight of the wheel. Not sure what the relevance of tyre section is - of course a 235 is likely to be lighter than a 265 - but you don't change the tyre section as you change the wheel size, so it's completely irrelevant.
