Depends how much use has been got out of the GT4! I remember someone on here saying he had to trade his GT3 RS back in at retail price to get his R which obviously wasn't a bad deal. GT4 for GT3 ? I'd do that if that was what I had to do to get a GT3.

I am guessing its not going to be possible to run a GT4 or even a GTS for the summer months and have almost free motoring at current prices?!.......

GT4 residuals less seasonal than the GT3 as its obviously a cheaper car and can be used more throughout the winter.

Both decent spec and mileage GT4 and 981 GTS prices should stay firm this year and well into 2018.

Justifying a purchase on the basis of free motoring is never a sensible thing. Obviously its possible to be in the right place at the right time and get a good deal on the way in and then on the way out but that's unlikely on a GT4 or GTS, just because the market is quite clearly established.

In terms of the pricing and the cars which are consistently in the mid 80's range they are the ones on the higher mileage of plus 4,000. So on that basis if you use it properly, and you should with a GT4, then you can probably work that for every 1,000 miles you writing off about £1,000. Obviously this is a very crude way of looking at things, but that should give you a starting point if money really is an issue. Although if you are questioning money on a +£85k purchase I would question if you can really afford it.

Personally a £5-£10k loss on what is an amazing car, which puts a smile on my face every time I use it, is well and truly worth it. Hence why I purchased and I will finally get to drive it in real anger at Silverstone GP circuit with Porsche UK in 2 weeks time.

I cannot see prices going south in the next year, and beyond that, it will all be down to what happens with the next GT4. Nothing wrong with trying to predict free motoring for a few months.

I only take the OPC network as a guide, but they come and go often, which is why I refrain from reporting the data too often, just once or twice per week.

I came close to buying that East London car - it doesn't have nav and is a very spartan spec. It just doesn't feel "special" enough. Also it's SOR so the pool of potential buyers is reduced to those that are 100% sure they are after that particular car and spec without driving it I guess. - Or maybe East London didn't think I was serious about the purchase. They didn't try to sell it to me at all. Not surprised it's coming down in price. Original owner is an ex racer. Famous chap - might even be on here.

Seems quite common that cars on SOR become impossible to test drive for a prospective customer. I can understand it to a degree, but ultimately if you wish to sell it, then test drives are necessary, and the dealership can control this without risk to the car. Someone mentioned just the other day that they've still not managed to test drive a car they are interested in, despite being serious, and was even told to go see another one first (presumably to drive) and then come back!!!

Hatfield have a grey one in (dont know spec or if its on the locator), but was chatting to the salesman and inquiring about a test drive to see what the hype was about (told him this), i was just told that they wouldnt let anyone test drive it until after financial chats had been held and it was pretty much a done deal

My eyebrows raised at the 3 owners as well. Nicely specced car but missing a couple of pretty essential toy afaik. I.e dual climate and auto dimming rear view mirror. If it had those (and could get a few quid off) I could be tempted.

Contrast that approach with a Porsche owned garage (Guildford) where I called up on the Friday, said I was interested in the car and could only come to have a look on bank holiday Monday when I would be looking to purchase it after a quick drive. Arrived 10min before My appointment but was still merrily greeted in the car park by the happy and excited salesman who was expecting me. Took turns to drive the car with my partner and did the deal within an hour. Can't fault the experience at all.
I've been a customer of east London for two years for servicing bits and bobs and even though I continually tried to build a relationship with the sales team there, I wasn't making any progress.

It's normal to not test drive GT Cars i thought.
You can always make a purchase subject to a test drive before completion. I'm sure this would reassure the seller but give buyer peace of mind.
Might be worth a trip to PEC also?
I think that's true.

Virtually everyone who buys a GT car 'new', will have done so without driving it, making their decision based on road test reviews.

PEC is good, and came about because there is no way these cars can be properly demonstrated on the road. Back in the '90s there were some terrible fatal accidents involving 'test drives' with salesmen - Porsche, Ferrari, TVR.......the press had a field day.

Porsche realised that 180mph cars, deal hungry salesmen and hot headed punters walking in off the street, were a dangerous mix, and pre-PEC, they started using qualified driving consultants to supervise the test drives.

These days, I guess they have to make a careful judgement based on the preciousness of the car and/or their confidence in the customer.

PEC is the way to go. I'm visiting in August to take their GT4 out for 90 minutes. This is so I can compare it to my CGTS and decide whether I should make any attempt to get a 718 GT4 when it's announced.

I don't want to be a tyre kicker at an OPC, nor do I want to risk damaging a car that's for sale. The PEC is the ideal solution, plus it's a good excuse for an overnight road trip with Mrs Twinfan smile

So, latest stats for this week. Quite a lot of action in the market with a huge 6 added, maybe those with GT3's inbound looking to cash in now. Cars include East London (albeit a return from the sold/removed table), Colchester, Leicester, Hatfield, Silverstone, Bolton. We also have 2 departed including Portsmouth, Silverstone. I think we might see this list grow over the next few months, but cannot see OPC's looking at dropping the prices, there is no reason to do so.

Yes indeed, that was me!

Makes it very tough indeed. And i'm an impulsive sort who probably would have signed on the dotted line after being smitten with a test drive biggrin
