12 GT4's for sale on PistonHeads and growing

Update on this topic 26 GT4's have now been listed on Pistonheads (some more than once through multiple dealers) and 11 appear to have been sold. Club sport with Full Carbon Buckets seem to have sold quickest for highest prices.
You've obv been keeping a track which is good to see. We're no where near the 50 odd 991 gt3's for sale that we saw. My suspicion is that due to potential profit not being so huge less gt4's will be flipped and more people keeping them. I expected to see far more than 11 or 12 examples on the used market by now. apachesmith said:

To date only one looks to have sold via JZM, the other seem to be hanging around. Is this a sign that people aren't willing to pay the over inflated prices on these cars or people are just biding their time to see where the market goes when all of the cars have been delivered?
Also this has to be an eye opener to Porsche that a good number of the early cars that have been delivered to their favored customers are straight to re-sale? I'm surprised the 20-30k increase in price on these cars is enough to make people sell these cars especially given how rare they are and how good they seem to be!

Fair point on the quantum of profit. However, I expect March will witness at least 20 for sale. Some will be cashing in to switch to the GT3.

look the cheapest S 2011 under 20k miles is £33k FFS show me a 25k car the same era as a R, the R is quite a small bit extra, buying seats and wheels on a S comes to more than a R costs !!!
you have no clue do you really ?
You sold your gt4 Demon/flipper . Why exactly ? you have no clue do you really ?

I'm no expert , but there are enough out there to drive prices down a little - what's interesting though , is that you get to a point as mentioned earlier where there is no value in selling - especially if you need another car : as at this point any overs you make (post costs) get eaten up by the other new cars depreciation (that you would not get to the same extent / if at all with the 4 ) So the only people who will sell are people who have them as a "spare" car. Which in its self will reduce the amount of supply and keep prices firm - it's fascinating how the market regulates itself .You mentioned the 4 vs a 997.2 GT3 - IMHO based on only limited time in the 4 : they are very different things - the GT3 is the last of a sweet spot , a time passed that I think will never be replicated again , (ignoring the impossible to buy 991R) even if the 991.2 GT3 comes in a manual . The GT4 is just the beginning and will improve with every future iteration - as such , in my view they are incomparable and if you had to choose , I'd go 997.2 GT3 every time . Not taking anything away for the GT4 I'm sure it's an amazing thing , but then again so is the GT3

Ran my GT4 at Snetterton y'day and totally loved it. Until y'day I was a little unsure on the whole package over a 997 GT3 ( and I've owned 2) but after y'day I'm totally sold and now looking forward to exploring the car further . Had SC switched off but the car was totally planted which is Also on standard settings . Do I miss my GT3's??? No but the 3 is definately more mechanical for those that prefer that feel but for me the poise of the 4 makes up for that in spades . It's also more useable for when you don't fancy being on one . This is good to hear , especially as you have spent quality time in both , whereas my time in the 4 is very limited - I have a half day at the PEC in the 4 at the beginning of March - should have a better view after this RSVP911 said:

PEC is a great taster for the GT4 but imo nothing more than that . I'm assuming you're coming from a 3?, the 4 I'm finding better fun on everyday roads, largely as our roads as so terrible no fault of the 3 and maybe I'm getting a little tired of uber hard core cars. anyhow you'll have lots fun just getting it run in trust me Scooty100 said:

Yes agree I am treating the PEC as a test drive , nothing more . I have a 991 RS and before that a 991 GT3 , 997.2 RS , etc - not sure the 4 will be for me but I am very much looking forward to spending a bit more time in one - glad you are enjoying yours.BTW I wouldn't call the 991GT3 a hardcore car - very easy to use as a DD on one hand and then an absolute beast if required - I loved mine

Sure, and at half the price of an RS seeks cheap still for 90% of the car.
Anyhow those that are currently flipping their cars good luck but you're missing out.

If I get one , it will be to use as a DD as unfortunately although the RS is extremely easy to live with day to day , it's far too flash to take to work and as such , I think that the 4 will be perfect in this respect (I'm not being rude about the 4 - it's an extremely pretty , purposeful thing - just not mental like the RS) At the moment , a lot of the time I'm going to work in my wife's Fist 500 - It always brings a smile to my face that car : honest , simple pleasure - love it .

Yep I agree with a lot of that , however , I think the 90 % bit may be pushing it though - but hey , can't really comment yet , but I'd be amazed if that was the case

I think you might get away with 90% on the road, but I think it is probably stretching it. I would say that maybe a regular 991 GT3 is 90% of the RS. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiWcTv3-nZI

Doubt anyone will take offense in the 4 not being as extreme as the RS. What Porsche have done, and what will be the 4s legacy, is that in a day and age where big numbers are a must for marketing execs at all companies Porsche created a car with the perfect blend when it comes to price, performance, and the slightly unmeasurable thing called "feel".
You get one of the best drivers cars in the world of 2015 for a price that doesn't even get you a regular 911 Carrera, and if you look elsewhere there is nothing that comes close to it under 100 grand. It is quite remarkable to be honest.
