This is arguably a better long term buy than the Aberdeen car!

Correct wheels, gearbox and seats for this type of car and will help it sell in the future.

Not normally a white car fan but it looks good with the black wheels on the Spyder, the only thing I would want on top of this would be the alcantara steering wheel!
Must be where i am going wrong, priced mine 6k cheaper than this

I keep my eye on the spyder market as I do fancy one at some point ( timing not great now as just took delivery of GT4 ) and I've clicked onto your car a couple of times over the last few weeks and dismiss it straightaway due to the aftermarket music . If I were you I'd take it back to standard . I know it shouldn't make a difference but i believe it does ....

Sounds like a good deal! And has the alcantara steering wheel! I may be in the market in the spring, GT4 arriving shortly so no space at the mo!

I do not want to be accused of talking up the prices of the 987/2 Spyders but if you want one then now is the time to get one as I am confident they will go up in price. There is at the moment a good selection as people are going to the new model but I am sure as with all classic cars it is the early purest models that will be the ones to own in the future. There is no doubt that the 987/2 Spyder is a modern day classic

Looks a great spec'd car. Sure its been hanging around for a while which is really surprising. Might be in a similar position in a couple of years - hope to take early retirement & might consider changing my daily drive 997 PDK C2S Gen 2 for a more driver focused Boxster/Caymen as a weekend toy - Spyder possibly.

Hi Jimmy

What did the dealers offer?

I will be after one of these in the spring and could pull that forward for the right car at the right figure.

Very interested.

Please feel free to PM me.

Thank you

Hi Jimmy

Thank you for parting with the lovely Spyder, i enjoyed driving it home.

It's now safely tucked up in the garage, it will be washed tomorrow if the weather is ok and cherished for a long time.

All the best

Enjoy! I know you certainly will. Get a write up done once you have had some seat time against your previous car.

Hi
I've had my Spyder for 5 years and love it, it has always been a weekend summer car and as ex Porsche show car has all the stuff like PCM, climate, cruise, iPod, Sport Chrono, carbon buckets, Spyder wheels, PSE etc - its not light weight track spec but on a normal road or traffic jam has all the things I'd wish for.

From watching threads and the cars for sale (some seem to sell instantly others hang around) the ones that seem to be sought are the low mileage (under 25k), spec wise:
Manual
Spyder Wheels
Carbon Bucket Seats
PSE
Radio or PCM
Air Con
Short Shift (can be retro fitted at an OK price by OPC)

Nice to have
Sport Chrono
PCM
cruise control
ipod connectivity
Carbon Ceramics (very rare and expensive option)

Extras that some actively seem to avoid
Full leather seats/leather sport seats
Non Spyder Wheels
PDK

I believe there were c220/230 Spyder's registered in the UK, which does make it quite a rare car compared to many of the even valuable stuff out there.

Above is just based on reading almost any Spyder thread since they came out and from a few other sources, I expected to lose money on mine when I bought it and almost sold it for 34k 3 years ago, pleased I didnt, having it worth what I paid in 2011 is just a nice bonus that I didnt expect. But they are special and people will chat to you about it and take a second look. Can not wait until Spring and the cover comes off smile

Had my first proper drive since picking it up New Year's Day today.

After all the rain i reckoned any road salt would have been washed off and the sun was trying to come out so off with the roof, well after a bit of fiddling anyway.

I like the rumbly exhaust note as I gently reversed off the drive and then trundled off down the hill to the main road where I pulled onto the main road just behind a RS3 which promptly lept off up the road like the proverbial scalded cat. The car isn't even warm yet and I am tempted to gun it to follow but I resist.

As I go further i gently up the pace and it settles really nicely into a series of sweeping bends - snickety gear change and nicely spaced peddles allow a bit of concurrent solid braking and blipping of the throttle to ease the lower gears in.
I up the pace on the straights and even at decent rate the wind in the cabin isn't uncomfortable just a gentle ruffling of the old folicals.

The odd car dawdling along is quickly dispatched and the unobtrusive exhaust becomes a little more noticeable when the revs get over about 3500 revs, i like that, i really dislike shouty exhausts. Its got plenty of torque so it's relaxing to make 'good progress'.

After about an hour i am back home, all in all i am rather smitten and yes it is rather special, plenty of go from the rorty engine, nice gearbox and steering, strong brakes and nice four square squat handling through every corner I drove through today.

I can't help but find a reason to pop back outside and admire the now rather dirt streaked white paintwork and listen to the engine clicking as it cools.

Overall am I pleased i bought it? Yes I am rather damn chuffed with my toy..

No problem Jimmy

Have you decided what you might fill the empty space in the garage with yet?
