Missing it already, but new family addition just isn't giving me ANY chance to enjoy it..!!
Took me forever to find one with the purist "drivers spec"-- so many seem to have the auto box & comfort seats-- so should be a lot of fun for someone who has the time to exploit it...!!

Prices seem to still be holding between 40-45k with the odd one nearer 50k, depending on spec and mileage. Which is fine, but interested to see if they climb much next year or just hold where they are.
Not many around with the alcantara wheel and gearstick. I went for the extended alcantara which did the door cards only but decided against the wheel and stick which was a separate option. Wish I had now, but I was worried how the wheel would hold up with wear over time.
Appreciate you don't want to say anything negative as trying to sell, but with 40k miles on the clock, how was the wear on the wheel?
Thinking of ordering just a gearstick with alcantara covering to compliment the door cards and seats. Also reversible if required keeping the old stick.

She is a beauty. I actually got an allocation for the new 981 Spyder last year, but turned it down as I couldn't see another car giving me the same, raw "fun factor". Not sure whether that's necessarily the case, but there's no doubting that the 987 Spyder is pure, unadulterated pleasure!! Not many around with the alcantara wheel and gearstick.

Like KMF says, the alcantara is pretty hardy stuff: the steering wheel and gearstick have held up really well...
Re: getting an alcantara gearstick--Do it!! I absolutely think the alcantara adds to the driving experience: really tactile... Also had it in my Lotus Exige years ago, and wouldn't now buy a sports car without it...

Cheers! RPM mentioned the similarity of spec on their previous-- now your-- Spyder... You did well...!! The buckets/manual/PSE/Chrono combination is pretty rare... The short-shifter was just the icing on the cake!! Either not many people optioned the "driver's spec" or, more likely methinks, they don't want to part with such a nicely optioned car. With the sun shining today- although mighty freezing!!- I wished for just "one more blast": bikini-top-roof down, and that gorgeous Sports Exhaust howling away... Sigh... When I spoke to rpm they reckoned the spec of my car was too hardcore? Do people really want pcm and ac in these cars?

I may be a tad biased, but these cars were surely designed to be "hardcore"...? There seems little point in Porsche designing a part-aluminium bodied car-- in order to save weight-- for it then to be fitted with hefty leather seats and A/C (and PDK, for that matter)... If these things are of such importance, then a bog-standard 987 Boxster S would be sufficient. Spec is as per original concept apart from audio and colour;

I think it's reasonable to want a Spyder, because it's a Spyder!
I really like the look of them, and, I couldn't care less about the weight!
I don't know what Alcantara is like on a steering wheel, but, I've spent the last eight years sitting in Alcantara seats, and, they don't need any taking care of at all.

I had my third drive in the 987 Spyder last weekend and am now wrestling with maybe selling the Ferrari.
I thought I would never contemplate selling the Ferrari because it means so much to me as well as the drive but the Porsche has got me thinking I might not use it a lot now.
First world problems ehh.

A lot of people don't get the car and sell it on quite fast, the people who love them have the hard core specs, mine has no AC or PCM and it's a mega thing.Spec is as per original concept apart from audio and colour;

seems RPM don't know about the car enough for the buyers, esp now the new one is out which is softer, who wants a soft 987.2 SPyder ! let alone a PDK one !
the amount of PDK cars which keep coming for sale on the R and Spyder is hugh, people just move on to the next PDk car etc
going forward PDK , PCM etc will be a dead hose on thr 987.2 SPyder and be a very hard sell, while the hard core spec will be sort after imo, I expect the cars to be £60k it is very under priced for the drive.

Yeah it seems they may start to gain more of a following now the new one is out. Really want to drive it but holding off about a month until the weather is much better. They are Defo at opposite ends of the spectrum. Still not seen a sub 1300 kg Porsche since this one.

Thats about the same spec as mine, though mine is white with cup holders. Mine has just ticked over 15000 miles with full OPC history and I am sure if I advertised it in April for £45000 it would be gone within a week.Spec is as per original concept apart from audio and colour;

Not many of these "hardcore" cars come up for sale because with 19" Spyder wheels, No A/C, Buckets, Sports Chrono, PSE and Short Shift the number of cars made must be about 20 or less. These 20 odd owners also tend to keep the cars longer and enjoy them for what they are.
For me you buy the car you want not what popular culture says you should.
