Doesn't that make it even lighter?
Yes, Power steering plus makes it lighter at parking speed.

PSP is not liked by many drivers due to less feel at below 30mph. I didn't spec it on my BGTS and the steering weight at parking speed is fine for me. AFAIK the standard steering is variable though.

Great write up Mario, had mine less than two months and only done 1k miles, I plan on keeping mine a long time so only take it out on fine days, when summer comes we will do some trips around the UK. The car is absolutely brilliant haven't revved it beyond 5k yet so a lot more pleasure to look forward to.

6 months have now elapsed since taking delivery of my own BGTS. A combination of Winter months, and the fact that she's not our DD, account for the meagre 2,300 miles covered to date.

Didn't venture over 5K for the first 2,000 miles, so it's only recently that I've experienced the wonderful yowl at 7K+ smile Wow! What a machine!

My relationship with PDK has been varied. At first I loved it, as it took care of Rev and gear choices while I got familiar with my very expensive new toy. Then, once familiar with the dimensions and performance of the Boxster, I went through a phase of feeling a little redundant. My input was limited to guessing the required throttle input that would instigate a drop of one or two gears in readiness for my next action. However, the last 800 miles or so have seen the lever in its 'manual' position and I'm now totally sold on PDK. I'm no Driving God so I've found that PDK allows me to execute swift, safe, overtaking manoeuvres, without me introducing a steering twitch if I was using two feet and a hand to snatch the next gear while high in the rev range.

Circa 1,000 miles have been 4 hour motorway slogs and I am so pleased with my Adaptive Cruise Control and Burmester selections. ACC is automotive sorcery, constantly scanning for space invaders and lifting the throttle or actively braking in response new situations. Indeed my better half has stated that she feels much safer in the Porsche than her Ford Focus purely because of the ACC. I just love the way it drops a gear to return quickly to my selected cruising speed when the road ahead clears.

20" Carerra S wheels are so easy to keep clean too. None of my previous motors have allowed me to reach through the wheel spokes and clean the inner face of the wheel. A silly thing I know, but it's the little things that please me.

Luggage space is excellent. Two medium sized suitcases fit in the front, leaving the rear for coats, handbag, rucksack and a case of wine for our weekends away.

I've always considered my GTS as a device for converting fossil fuels into pleasure, so 20mpg on country roads and 36 on the motorway is totally acceptable in my book. I've also just used most of my free 1litre of oil to top it back up to Max (it had dropped to about the half way mark).

So after my first 6 months of ownership I am still totally seduced by my first Porsche - and happily there are no "If only" regrets of options that I'd failed to tick... not that I failed to tick many wink

Standard PH response, "Ah yes, but you only bought it for the badge".

These 981s are brilliant cars for the real world and unbeatable at the price. Enjoy!

I replaced a vantage with the GTS and let's say that apart from the V8 noise I don't miss it at all. The Porsche is plenty quick in real world and with the buckets and alcantara trim its a great place to be. The PDK gearbox is light years ahead of the Aston Sportshift.

Now up to 25k miles. Nothing to report but smiles.
