Good Value car.

Xenon's is the main thing I would want though..

I had some idea, my accountant made a slight error - when you're working and paying tax in several countries, it can be quite confusing, hence the error, a drop in the ocean for HMRC, but I questioned it as I didn't want the tax man chasing me in a few years. If it's still wrong, it'll be them owing me which won't be a bad thing.

Snap! Sticking with MPSS for mine though as I've had enough of R compound tyres being iffy in the wet. I'd rather sacrifice a bit of ultimate dry grip for being able to still go out in the wet.

Looks good! I've decided on the Cup 2s, will run them at Donnington on 6th. If it looks like it's going to be a wet day I can just leave the standard wheels with MPSS on.

Ian,
I've come to a similar conclusion for my Cayman. I've currently got PS2s on the car which actually hold up pretty well on track, but I've gone pretty extreme on my geo (more than 3 deg of neg camber front and rear), so really need something stickier to exploit the set up.
I did a wet day at Dony just before Christmas (first and only outing with this set up so far) and even on PS2s the car was trying to kill me at every corner - PSM definitely stayed "on" that day ! It was very lively !
As we know, the key to grip (even in the wet) is being able to get some heat into the tyres - that day with that geo and ambient temp of 2 degrees I simply couldn't.
On 6th June, wet or dry, ambient and track temp should be rather higher, so there is a chance of getting heat into the tyres. Regardless, everything I've read suggests that the Cup 2 is a much more capable tyre in the wet than the old Cup 1, R888 or pretty much any other track tyre. From new it has a greater tread depth than most and has many more water-clearing channels than a R88 or AO-48. As I don't have a second set of wheels, I am going to gamble and use the Cup 2 as my all-round tyre.
Anyway, fingers crossed for a dry day - I really want to see what this thing can do.......

Picking my new CR up tomorrow morning! Its the OPC Tonbridge car. Excellent condition, good spec (PSE, buckets, chrono, ac, nav, manual, spyders, white). OK it has a few owners but I intend to have it a few years. Didn't pay the advertised price either !!!! Finger's crossed it is a good one as this is my first Porsche after years of wanting one.

Have now done my first track day in the R (at Anglesey circuit) and had a whole load of fun. Very impressed at what the little road car, almost stock, brings to the party. The supersports were brilliant when it was wet and performed very well when it was warm and dry later. I was a bit surprised at how many times the PSM light flashed in the last session when it was turned off. I guess the tyres got a bit hot or I was being a bit too rough by that time with the steering. And wow, did the RS29s squeal as they got hotter! Need to do something about that before the next day out.

Anyway, here's some nice footage of my rear end taken by buddy, Signalgreun, from his GT3 when we had some playtime near the end of the day. biggrin

Out of interest do you have to pull a fuse to get the PSM off off? I did a skid control day in my CS the other week and even with PSM "deactivated" the light flashes and the system kicks in again. I've since activated it on the road too. I would assume on track it must still be reasonably nannying? I'm used to driving cars with no electronic aids so a bit of 3rd gear oversteer is not unusual but the PSM doesn't seem to like that.

I turned PSM off using the switch and yes it was still cutting in regularly. Mine doesn't have a sport button so I wonder if it cuts in sooner because I've no sport mode even though PSM is off. Haven't tried any fuse pulling.

A favour to ask...can someone please measure the diameter of the Sports Design steering wheel.

I'am thinking about having one fitted to my Gen 2 Cayman.

Only on gt cars is off , completely off. Everything else equipped with psm, will turn it back on when abs is detected on one wheel (without sport mode) and two wheels (with sport mode)

Imo, very useful with sport mode on. Will flash a little in slower corners but generally very well judged if tidy.
