It's interesting to see that quite a few cars have sold recently, so much so that unless you want a Cat D, there are no Manuals currently for sale on AT.

Is it a sign that the market is picking up?
This one has been reserved.

I think it was high 40s, even £49K. Could be a sign the market is on the up.......it usually picks up after winter draws to an end.

No idea how you found that... I tried all sorts of ways of filtering, even taking out the brand, and still didn't manage to find it with the search. Not sure how they hope to sell it!
If I filter by Porsche / Cayman / R it shows up. Seems to be listing as expected to search criteria

Trouble is he paid over £28500 for it on collecting cars back in 2021, I’d take a punt on it for £15k though

It was a track car and had a fortune spent on mods (most of which are listed in the ad). It's unique and whilst it might not appeal to all, there may well be someone who is similarly keen for a track Cayman R as the previous owner who modified it was. The ad claims invoices for £35,000 of mods. Not a car I'd be using as a barometer of the market.

i think that has been too messed around with. For that price Id imagine ost would want originality.

'It has the unusual chassis marking combination of a ‘C’ 2012 model with ‘U’ Valmet Production'

What does that mean that makes it unusual?

Assume it’s because most 2012 cars would have had the CS marking being built in Germany?

Earlier cars were made in Finland

Or it’s nothing of note at all, and just some sales nonsense

What’s the general experience of getting more sound from a non PSE Cayman R ? I am looking for a deeper sound on start up and normal street driving rather than performance focus.

But I am also keen to hear responses with considerations for any impact changing the exhaust would have on car value/appeal come car resale time. Likely @ 65k miles.

Thanks to you all ??

Option) Get a set of 200 CEL cats and keep the OEM back box. Would new buyers be put off? Would the sound be deep enough from anyone’s experiences of this set up ?

Option) get the back box modified either Carnewal or potentially for convenience a specialist I have used in the past for a Gundo Hack on a previous 911 more locally ?

Option) Or I can get a PSE retrofit (non OEM) fitted with the proper OEM interior switch for £1700. Perhaps increasing the cars appeal come resale but I am wondering if a back box change would give an improvement in sound? It’s the one below btw.

There is a 4th option and get the OEM factory PSE for the R, yes, not the S, the larger R PSE. Autofarm offer this service using ALL OEM parts.

From memory it's 7mm... 48mm on the standard cars, Spyder and Black Edition, 55mm on the Cayman R only.

New to me R with PSE is noticeably quieter than my older 987.2 S with PSE. Major differences being the S was a PDK and the R manual with less than half the mileage.

I will ensure the valve is operating fully at its imminent service but I was very surprised at the difference in volume. The S was confirmed to have a stock exhaust.

Sad to say that my Cayman R sold earlier this week (silver one at Williams Crawford) it was a brilliant little car but my dodgy left knee meant it just wasn’t getting used enough. No idea what will or could replace it if anything.

If the new owner is on here, have fun, she’s a good ‘un.

I’ve enjoyed reading and contributing to this thread over the years and wish all of you the best. If my knee ever gets better then I may be back.

ETA - a picture and to say there’ll be a couple of bits that didn’t go with the car in classifieds soon.

Shame you had to move it on Swanny, hope you had enough fun in the R whilst you had it!

You must have something in mind as a replacement?

Probably not allowed to post a link but they’re in the Marketplace/parts and plates section. Although they might be sold already?

Morning MrVert.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time with the R, just haven’t been able to drive it enough. No direct replacement planned, need to fix my knee first.
Would like to do a ‘throwback to my youth’ project as I enjoy tinkering with cars as much as driving them these days. A Peugeot 306 GTi-6 is odds-on favourite….
