Hi,

So what's the best 'dry' N rated tyre?

Fast road and the odd track day?

I think that for N rated on our standard 19 inch wheels we're stuck withe Michelin Pilot Sport 2. I have these on mine and think they're perfect for the road. I wouldn't want to push them on hard on a track though. Hence my search for a second wheels set with Michelin Pilot super sports (which are not N rated). Happily it looks like my search for the latter is now sorted! smile

After having done my first 200 miles in the R today I have some questions:

Can you get larger lumber pads for the buckets? I see that the standard thin one is attached by velcro. My back is killing.

Can the tilt angle of the seat be adjusted on the base sliders?

Driving at night in the rain highlighted the very poor standard headlights, are xenon units plug and play if I was to buy a pair second hand or is there more to it?

My iPhone contacts don't download via bluetooth, I can make and receive calls over the system using the phone to choose numbers which is annoying.

Thanks,
Oli

Buckets don't adjust tilt I'm afraid. I'm happy to swap with my mega comfortable heated sports seats though?😉

Contact me urgently for safe house details. You criticised the Cayman R. Your life is now in imminent danger a crack team of Porche fan boys are hunting you down as we speak! Put your affairs on order any say goodbye to your loved ones!

The seats won't tilt I had the same query when I first got them. You do adjust to the driving position though. The position is designed to reduce steering effort in your arms by moving your shoulders forward. If you normally drive in the flat Eric position it can feel a bit odd.

PCM I would say delete the phone and add it again just using search in the phone not the PCM. I find doing it the other way around causes all sorts of weirdness.

Lumbar pads. No but you can get some aftermarket from Demon Tweeks - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/seat-acce...

I had to buy lumbar support for my wife whose back actual seized on a long journey.

Not plug and play, you need to code them in and unless you have a Durametric cable, trim tools and know what you're doing, I wouldn't attempt it.

put a cloth behind the pad, they just Velcro in. are you sure it's lumber support you need though ? one should NOT be able to feel a lumber support, most people have too much when adjusted.
ALso most find the bucket have more comfort as the they softer to sit on, me inc. I have a bad lower back and they help me as it happens.

Lights are poor, after market bulbs help a little.

imo you should not be making outgoing phone calls from the car, trying to find a number etc. you can answer ok, but that's for another thread on safety I guess.

I've always found with bucket seats that you need to sit just a little bit closer to the steering than with a comfort seat. Sit too far back and you'll be subconsciously stretching to reach the pedals and/or steering wheel which will lead to strain on your lower back.

+1 - they are very comfy if you get the reach just right. But then I sit quite close to the wheel.

Do you have the Universal Audio Interface with a USB port in the centre arm rest, using this USB port allows the iPhone contacts to show on the PCM screen

An R with PDK and buckets and at a good price IMO. Be quick!

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

And this looks like the S that I tried to buy a month or so ago when it was up for sale privately. It's now at RPM and doesn't look a whole lot more than the private seller was asking for:

Calling it 'R spec' is probably a bit rich but in addition to the buckets it does have the aero kit and an LSD....and RPM have added the decals since it was for sale last month! biggrin

That one at RPM was a Porsche driving experience car. I was offered it before it went on PH as a private ad but didnt go for it because of that history. I would have declared it on the ad as IMO its quite pertinent information at that end of the market. No chrono is a bit of a facepalm as well. It will sell at that price especially with RPM warranty. I sold my unicorn for 36k last year so this is a relative bargain by those standards.

Not sure why they would bother marketing it as an R spec. If you want an R buy an R. If you want one with similar spec to an R but with PASM buy a good S. Just dont do what I did and get sucked in by the hype! Make your own choice.

That blue one looks very nice. Are RPM not better off removing the wheels and buckets on the 'R spec' and selling them separately.? Strikes me that there are a few people who would be willing to pay good money to correct the perceived 'deficiencies' in their cars......
