Chaps - stay on target. There's no point in debating a subjective view of GT3 VS Cayman R. What I find interesting is that whenever the R is discussed, the GT3 comes up at some point. Goes to show what high esteem the R is held in if it takes a Porsche Motorsport car to compare it with, when in reality it's just a good road car that can occasionally be taken on track.ian964 said:

I got mine serviced today - good job by the guys at West Byfleet and I was OK with the price in the end. I really do love my car now though - it took a while to really gel with it but I'm not sure I want to change it - they had a GT4 in the showroom - £100k??? Simply not worth the switch - I can get that new Mini JCW Challenge, keep my car and still have change for that kind of cash. For the money, there isn't much to compare with the R IMHO. Looking forward to getting the cup 2s on it and trying it on track now.
J-P, have you had a chance to try the MPS Cup 2s yet? I've just got hold of a set of OZ Ultraleggeras for track use, and am trying to decide what tyres to use. I run MPSS on the road wheels anyway, so was looking at the Cup 2s as a more track-biased tyre. s3 akr said:
Picking my new CR up tomorrow morning! Its the OPC Tonbridge car. Excellent condition, good spec (PSE, buckets, chrono, ac, nav, manual, spyders, white). OK it has a few owners but I intend to have it a few years. Didn't pay the advertised price either !!!! Finger's crossed it is a good one as this is my first Porsche after years of wanting one.
Congrats you're going to have a lot of fun!MDT48 said:

Agree GT3 MC is a good mod. It improves pedal feel a great deal. I've got Pagid RS29s on mine now, once I sort out the tyres, I'm looking forward to taking it on track and seeing the improvements.
How are the RS29 pads on the road? Is there enough bite when they're cold?

Was swaying towards RS29 pads, but worried about on road performance, since I just can't face the thought of swapping between road and track pads throughout the year. Don't really want the car to squeal like a stuck pig when I'm not thrashing it, though :-)
I'll see what state my old pads are after Monday and then make a decision.
On road performance is great - they don't squeal at all when cold no matter what you do. Once they start to squeal you just need to use more braking force - i.e. harder and shorter and don't release early to soften the nose bounce effect if you want to avoid completely. If you do release for smoothness, then they'll squeal a tiny bit. It's not too difficult to make the required adjustments to braking style.I'll see what state my old pads are after Monday and then make a decision.

The MPSC2s are bought now, they're going on this Saturday. Then it's going to the garage on the 26th. Then I think a trip to Silverstone is in order
Make best use of them while the weather remains warm and dry because once in the depths of winter it won't be as much fun.boxsey said:

Good man. Two of us will be Oulton Park on Tuesday in ours. There will also be a GT4 and GT3 with us. The MPSC2s are on now. I've only driven back from the tyre fitter but initial thoughts are slightly improved ride and in spite of them being cold and not scrubbed in yet and the road being a little damp, they didn't try and throw me off the road at any point, which I was kind of half expecting given some comments I've read and also what the Cup+ was like on my old E92 M3.
I've got GT3MC on mine. The difference it makes is purely on how hard the pedal is. It means you have to push harder to brake and provides a more stable platform for H&T. That is it, no improved braking, just better feel.
My car also has RS29s, braided hose and GT3 brake ducts. But GT3MC was the most noticeable change even though is didn't improve overall retardation.

Yes, I'm not after more braking (the car stops just fine) just a shorter pedal. It's just a personal/confidence thing. If the bigger m/c gives me less travel, it will suit my driving style more than the standard set up which makes me extend my leg too much, to the point where I lose my feel for the modulation of the brakes.
I understand all what D's saying about the brakes and what could be done because I went through a lot of the same stuff on my previous track biased 964. Back then I wanted to improve the retardation (and achieved it with extensive upgrades) but with the CR I just want a pedal that has a shorter travel as it's more me (the 964 always had a short pedal). It's probably because I have short legs!
It'll be a great mod for you then - certainly worked well for me. I'm quite pleased with my current brake set-up. Next time I may get some titanium heat shields but that's probably it.I understand all what D's saying about the brakes and what could be done because I went through a lot of the same stuff on my previous track biased 964. So took my car to Brooklands today to sort out a suspension issue. Sorted out a price beforehand and just thought I'll drop it off and pick it up later.
Imagine my delight when they told me that only the top mount needed doing, so they didn't need to change the shock, so the amount I had to pay was far lower than expected (like around half the amount).
Car has now had a full geo, is spotlessly clean and drives as good as new.
Thanks to the guys at Brooklands who did a great job - one very happy customer!
