Thats why you have to threshold brake to avoid abs etc and hence why fitting a GT3 MC is bks :-) as you lose that finer detail on brake modulation, while I am bleeding off 1 mm to avoid ABS the guys with no pedal travel are , well screwed as you cannot bleed off .3mm travel very easy. !

Only on gt cars is off , completely off. Everything else equipped with psm, will turn it back on when abs is detected on one wheel (without sport mode) and two wheels (with sport mode)

Imo, very useful with sport mode on. Will flash a little in slower corners but generally very well judged if tidy.
Thanks. I never triggered the ABS. The PSM intervention was always in the exit phase of the corner. My guess from reading the manual is that it could have been a spinning wheel (maybe the lsd is already goosed?) or too much steering angle when back on the throttle? I've got two of the 'PSM off' sessions on video...interestingly the quicker laps were in the first of those sessions where I never had the PSM light flash which makes me think I was being too heavy handed/footed in the second session and that didn't pay off. Will try and be a bit tidier with my inputs at the next track day. On Monday. smile

GT3 brake cooling ducts now fitted for the grand total of....£19.81! They don't look any bigger than the standard ones but look like they channel the air to the brakes more efficiently (I guess).

That's why I spent the extra and got the much bigger GT2 ducts

As we talked about the night before, you have to be very carful with PSM and ABS, the R's weak points, ABS is easy to get round, don't trigger it :-=)

PSM less so, I find it's about steering angle vs throttle. As you can drift the R if you wish and it's ok, for me the only point I trigger PSM at Anglesy was at Peel over the hill if you want to get on it early.

I would def get the sports crono fitted to the PDK, it will give you faster shifts and people do say Sports mode plus PSM off give you more slip than just PSM off. It's about £800 to retro fit at the OPC. although I still trigger PSM light at Peel but was ok every where else.

I don't think I trigger it anywhere at Donny in the Spyder in sports mode + PSM off.

Yes, I think it's now on my to do list. No time to get it done before the day at Donny on Monday...but will make sure it's done before the next outing which will be at Spa. smile

That spec with those miles for that price with I assume about 6 months of warranty left, you'll find a buyer pretty easily I'd say. I expect a dealer of some description would snap it up and inflate the price by 10% on their forecourt

Based on my experience, I'd say dealers are currently carefully nibbling around the edges rather than snapping up and the 10% may be an underestimate.

I'd pay 40 for it message if interested. Times are tricky in the trade at the moment we are all waiting for that pesky eu referendum!

Sounds like my car! Mine doesn't have chrono but does have nav and phone. But it is a 12 plate and has only 12k miles.

Out of interest - does anyone know anymore about this car? PCCBs scare me - what are the replacement costs like?

I'm new to Cayman R's (and Porsche in general for that matter), but if my M2 doesn't work out I am very tempted by one of these.

Finally got around to having a GT3 master cylinder fitted to my Cayman R and I'm left wondering why the hell I didn't do it years ago!

The feel of the brake pedal is improved beyond all recognition. The pedal is firmer, higher and all that horrendous mush is just gone.

The braking is just so direct now, and any fears you might have about a higher, firmer brake pedal making it more difficult to heel and toe are, I can assure you, completely unfounded.

Got a track day booked on Monday and can't wait to see how she feels.

One thing to note is that it seems to be quite tricky to bleed the system after the master cylinder is fitted. Mine wasn't right after it was done, but fair play to GT One in Chertsey, they got me straight back and bled the system again until I was happy. Great service from Peter, Craig and their team.

If you've been thinking about having this mod done, just do it!

Good move! GT One changed mine a couple of weeks ago,
and it felt superb at Donington on Monday. No problem at all with heel and toe either.
