Took mine to brands with the new MPSC2s. Wow! They are really grippy and it's like the hotter they get, the better they are. Feel from them is exceptional on track and they barely go off. Also, they don't squeal...at all...ever. At first I thought I wasn't trying hard enough, so I pushed harder in the dry, invoking a slide, but still no squeal..weird but very cool!

I find they go off after about 6 laps in the summer, the weather ATM helps keep them a bit cooler, but get them to > 60degree and they start to feel greasy. They do heat up fast though so hence a good road tyre still.

So they did get a bit greasy but only upto a point. They didn't get greasier and greasier and greasier until they feel like they're about to delaminate. I thought that they were excellent. Bit hairy in the wet when you're on it but magnificent in the dry.

So mine is going through rear pads like they are going out of fashion.

I reckon the diff has stopped working and the PTV is working the rear brakes harder to compensate (as this wasn't an issue in the past).

I'm thinking I'm going to replace the diff with an aftermarket item. There are two diffs I'm thinking about, the Quaiffe ATB, which seems good value and gets good reviews or the Wavetrac one, which is my preferred option at the moment as it seems to be a non-service diff but also works under braking and with one wheel in the air. You also have options to tune the diff to suit your requirements, which seems cool.

Anyway, anybody on here with experience of both? Which would you go for?

Correct. I think psm does a lot of braking. Might explain my pccb pads lasting 24k

Really is it PSM? In any case, it's killing the rear brakes, which is bloody annoying.

Suspect a more aggressive diff will sort it out.

I hope you run PSM off on track other wise you will see rear disk wear and big heat issues.

PSM does still cut in on the odd corner even when off, you have to adjust your driving style to get round it.
You can tell as the light on the dash will flash even when turned off, it's an issue with steering lock angle, yaw and throttle.

I always seem to find 1 corner per track which fks it over.

You can unplug the yaw fuse but then that causes abs issues !! So easier to drive round the PSM issue IMO.

If you have PSM on it will make things a whole lot worse. As Mr D says even with PSM off it does still kick in but its not as bad. I did a skid control day in mine and if anything it was just killing the gas. The limits are kind of high but still below where you would want it for "off"

Theres nowt wrong with the Porsche diff IMO and the action on the rear brakes with PSM off wont be anything like a 981 PTV system. If you are on track and still getting PSM issues its probably time to upgrade to a proper track car like a Lotus biggrin

IT would be interesting to know if the ecu power kits you can get map the PSM to off off that would be a useful feature.

I see - so it's PSM causing it, I need to turn off PSM on track days and a more aggressive diff won't help. Is that about right?

def PSM off and see if you can get the light still to flash, if so change driving style ;-)

Had my GT3 master cylinder fitted yesterday (see cmoose's thread for more details about the upgrade for 987 caymans: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=162... )so thought I would post my thoughts.

Now yesterday being one of the coldest days of the year, it was not the best of conditions to experience the full difference but first impressions for me were very good. The pedal immediately felt firmer from the first prod of the brakes and stayed firm to the point where the ABS triggered (which was inevitable in yesterday's conditions). It's just the change in feel that I was hoping for and am looking forward to see how it goes on the next trackday (which unfortunately won't be until March's RS day Oulton Park). However, I can see that it might not be to everyone's taste because it feels a little numb when doing gentle braking on the road (especially in traffic). Not an issue in my opinion because I'll quickly get accustomed to it and forget what it was like before.

There appears to be a good value one at Porsche Swindon. Dark blue £39995 26k miles.

Is PDK but has the buckets. Anyone know the car?

I've seen the car at Swindon, not properly looked at it, but it all looked good from what I saw.
As you said looks a good price now with the 2 year warranty.
Only downside too me is the colour but can't have it all..

If want me too go and have a properl look for you the weekend not an issue as localish too me.
Good luck finding one and with purchase...
