but every PCP car is a thrashed hand me back (or could be ), that's >80% cars sold !, and Porsche sell about 1.5k ex demo cars also which are classed as AS NEW but thrashed by every one who demo's or has a loaner !all these 3 year old PCP could be fully thrashed to bits for 30k miles , my Leased fiesta is just about nackered after 2 years of abuse, I thrash it every where knowing it's going back.
A press car gets what 2k of fast driving vs a PCP thrashed from cold every day for 3 years/30k miles !!
Most 2nd hand cars could have been thrashed for 30k miles, one will never know, it's a daft point.
Goto any city and these rich banker tyres jump into stone cold cars outside pubs and events and rev the nackers off them
Goto any PH meet and 70% cars are full nacker out the exit on a stone cold car at 8k revs.
Every female driver who never checks the oil until it has none and stops etc etc etc
Only way you views stand up is to buy a brand new car as any 2nd hand car (and more so now people don't own cars) could be a dud.
look at your car, the engine blew up ! prob due to the last owner lugging it every where in4th at 2k revs !
My misses pulls out in 3rd gear some times the poor Fiesta makes some strange engine noises when she does that !

Surely the point of a Porsche is it's designed and built to extremely high quality
So what is this "abuse" that can suddenly knacker a car?
Tyres, brake pads yes - but these are consumables
the rest of the car is designed to be hooned...lots of people say the best way to run in a new motor is to give it grief
I don't get therefore why a press car that's been hammered - which actually means lots of heat cycles, decent mileage and probably longer trips is a worse buy than something which could have crawled along in traffic for 5 years . Or could have stood for ages and then been spanked at weekends?
No one really knows how a 2nd hand car was driven by its previous owners! Like those BS adverts staying dry use only.
So surely the only difference here is perception.

By odd coincidence I have just posted on another thread about my 928 GTS being the most trouble free Porsche I have had - and I have had a few . It was 11yrs old when I eventually sold it in 2006. In the last year of ownership it was my daily driver and did 20k. Not one squeak or rattle and not one part replaced or repaired other than an a/c re-gas and drier, and brakes, tyres and service items.
It was a press car and roundly abused by Clarkson and his pals. I would normally counsel against buying such a car but the one time I did, I ended up with my most reliable ever. On the other hand, a number of the "pampered" dealer cars I have bought have been very poor. I know this means nowt in the grand scheme - but not all press cars are a risk, and not all pampered ones a safe bet.
Probably wouldn't buying another though - no one is that lucky
For anyone interested in the ex-press car at JZM I owned the car for almost 5 years having bought from Porsche in Colchester in late 2011. The car had c12K mileage on the clock when I bought it and I traded it in to Aston Martin in Pangborne in Sept 2016 with a mileage of c23K. The trade in value was more than I paid for the car. I understand the car was quickly sold by AM Pangborne to a local Porsche enthusiast but he didn't seem to keep it long. I only have good things to say about the car, it ran faultlessly and I didn't spend a penny on it other than routine servicing. The car also has a Porsche lightweight lithium sports battery (or it did when I sold it). The car is a good as it looks. There is great Youtube footage of Chris Harris driving it, Autocar tests, and stills from Evo and Porsche magazines and a like. I never tracked it and would happily own it again. Hope this helps any potential buyer

I got my warranty renewal letter though.
Works out at £1400 for two years, without Porsche assist, but with the 111 check fee.
Do I or don't I........hmmmm....
read the 100k mile Spyder thread ;-) what has gone wrong on your car so far ?Works out at £1400 for two years, without Porsche assist, but with the 111 check fee.

Do you want a MOL battery and N rated tyres ?
Life owning cars to be free to use what parts you like is so nice.

Didn't look too bad but would definitely check the quality of the work done.
