The owners being real vague saying it was a trade in and he has no idea who did the repair.
I wouldn't spend that money on that car then...... I'd rather have an S with good provenance than an R with a shady past. One day, you will have to sell it too remember, even if it proves reliable.

Mine is on just over 12k from new. Work and owning some other toys is my excuse. Don't think there are many single owner cars with that sort of mileage about. I think a lot of people traded in when the GT4 came out, I didn't as I couldn't bring myself to sell it.
You're probably right, there aren't many, but I have one :-)

Took mine in for its six-year service a few weeks back - it had 8,600 miles on the clock then.

A result of the low mileage is that I ended up dumping tyres with loads of tread left, given that they were well over six years old. Did give me an excuse to slap Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber on each corner, though - the handling and grip on track with those tyres on the car is simply astonishing.

Anyone seen that Cat D one for sale? Does anyone know the history on it? Thanks.
As someone wandering through the forums, I figured I could contribute. I too spotted this one and made the enquiries. Here are some photos and comments I got back from the vendor.

So, how the car looks now.....

And these are the photos of before it was fixed....

And by way of supporting information I've been told that all the vendor has is this set of pictures of the damage, the HPI report and all the car documents i.e. Log book mot history etc ....

Worth a punt, anyone?

I looked further into it too. Seller has no idea on the repair and the parts that were used. I called Porsche because the seller said parts were bought from them, but they have no info.

Also looking at the MOT it's only covered circa 200miles in a year.

Would've had more confidence if the seller was the one who went through the process in the repairs instead of a dealer who got it in as a 'trade in'.

Even though it's very cheap compared to all other Rs, I'd rather spend that sort of money on an S with no history and therefore no re-sale problems, especially since it hasn't even got bucket seats.

BTW anyone else got an R on a 62 plate....that's the first one I've seen.

It was on youtube a fair bit with the owner Sideway Sid. He got it around May/June last year from Colchester Porsche with 9.5k miles on it (I know because I was seriously looking at it myself before deciding on a manual with a few more options). He bought a GT4 a few months after getting it and then it seemed to disappear for quite a while, resurfacing for one more very short video before popping up at this forecourt.

Thanks for that.

The chap on the YouTube videos is the same one I spoke to at a dealership in Essex about the car.

Not sure I'm keen on YouTube videos of it been drifted out of car parks.

Gone for a new 718 s to be safe anyway now.

They haven't got a clue on when or who did the repair. Deal breaker straight away.

Chaps - if somebody is at home - would you mind measuring the size of the battery? I think it's 31.5cm but just want to be absolutely sure - need to get a new battery.

Thanks and Regards

Thanks buddy - that's what I'm going to switch to - have a decent conditioner too, so it should be fine for years!

Bit nosey aren't you ????

But I can confirm it was specifically a battery and definitely not any other part of the car's electrical system tongue out

Might have been in a Cayman R, couldn't say .......

They're all the same size anyway in 996 and 986 onwards... anyway double checked this evening and 31cm is definitely correct.
