I do wonder though if these after market ones are the right sheen. Something tells me what whilst they might be the same cut, and perhaps better quality, that the appearance itself is just all wrong. But I could be over-thinking this!

Honestly, I suspect you probably are. I think the ideal with these are that they are as invisible as possible, and modern PPF will be much better than what Porsche were using 10+ years back.

I replaced mine and at first I bought some non Porsche types which when compared were a lot thinner and not as "Spongy" as the originals. I ended up buying originals as it made me feel happier.

Colour and condition looks good. Just wrong wheels, wrong stereo, wrong mileage, no sports chrono which makes it hard to justify over a standard S in my view.

Just to say after nearly 4 years of joyous ownership my Cayman R is about to go on sale, I have bought an air cooled 911 and I need the space in my garage.

61 plate car, manual, carbon buckets, sport chrono, PSE, Spyder (spider?) wheels in black, car is carrera white. All the right options except no air con and only 26k miles full Porsche OPC history. Available with a Porsche warranty until November 24 that could be extended another 12 months if buyer wants that.

Will be realistically priced, PM me if interested and I can provide some pics and discuss a price.

Popping up to say hello. Just over a year of CR ownership and I love it even more now than when I got the car. I have put Ohlins R&T on it and it enhances the inherent characteristics of the car and takes it to an even higher level. They are so suited to the chassis.

Off to Harewood Hillclimb a week on Saturday, a few more Caymans in the class than usual (one is a 718 GTS with nearly 500bhp). So much fun even if I am unlikely to win anything.

It is quite unusual to see an owner replace the standard springs/shocks as they are already one of the differentiators of the car vs standard Caymans but interesting to hear your feedback on the upgrade.

I think N rating on anything out of Porsche warranty is a bit of a scam tbh. On my Cayman it limits you to decade old tyre tech. I've got new Bridgestone Potenza Sports on it (2023 design) as some of the only UHP tyres available in correct sizing and I'm very happy with them.

I've had those fitted too. I wanted tyres that are a good compromise for road and track (like the Michelin super sports used to be). So far the Bridgestones feel very grippy on the the road. Hopefully will see what they're like on track later this year. I was also interested in trying the Conti SC7 that PaulD went for but couldn't find a local supplier.

Only one proper drive on them so far but initial impressions are good. When it got a bit wet (I missed the shower but the road was very wet) they seemed very grippy, though after the last tyres I still need to find some trust in the car in the wet again. Will report back further once I've done some more miles on them.

I am aware of a few CRs with Ohlins. The standard car is good, with Ohlins it is exceptional. I have never felt so confident in a car on track than I do with the Ohlins on the CR. They are in a different league to any other coilover upgrade I have experienced.

The change from the Cayman S to Cayman R is the lowered springs with a small increase in spring rate (over non-PASM springs). I am not sure the differential is that great.

I wouldn't take the Potenza Sports on track (I did and it was a mistake!). They are okay as road tyres but they will wear very quickly and blister on track. I had two tyres absolutely destroy themselves with less than 500 miles on them. Have not had that problem before or since with Michelins.

My car runs 2 degrees or camber all round and whilst it will still wear the outer edges, on decent tyres it is pretty good from a wear perspective.

PDK is a hard sell as it is with R's let alone adding comfort seats into the mix. But if thats what you are after (no right or wrong decision) then you can't go wrong with that one - the service history seems impeccable.

In the current market I’d say it’s expensive for a car without buckets

As a road focused car for intended normal duties I would say non buckets and PDK is touring spec and ideal daily.

My wife is happy in mine for this reason and we all know happy wife means happy life 😄

But as a track machine obvs not.

Depends what u want it for 👍
