Pictures were taken by somebody at pff.de. As expected both Boxster and Cayman have identical engine tunes now. Looks like Miami Blue as the launch colour?

First time I've seen that wheel design (on the Miami blue).

The front view (of the Boxster) is much better in the flesh.

Apparently, the 718 Cayman was revealed at the Beijing Auto Show earlier today. Apart from the above picture I can find little other info yet.

The rear end just looks so 'heavy' now, it's really fattened up. Combined with the front 'duck face' spoiler I can't like it. The 981 is so svelte in comparison.

I also think it's starting to look too much like a VW......

VAG are doing their usual thing when they have a "look" which is successful - altering it so that the OLD model is recognisably OLD without changing it too much. Personally don't thing the new look is an improvement (inside or out) but don't object either. I wish they had focused the considerable development budget on the engine (2 litre in particular) or suspension rather than the body panels.

I wonder what ridiculous historical link the Marketing department will pull out of the bag to sell this Cayman? Looks better than the boxster, but that rear end is just not nice...

The rear looks better in the video than I expected.
I still prefer the 981 looks overall but wouldn't say no to a 982 GT4 with N/A 4.0L engine.

I agree with the front bumper and VAG look comments.
The 981 had hints of 918 in its front design language, that seems to be completely gone and flattened in the 982.

Prices in Euro. Same power output, same equipment. 718 Cayman is slightly cheaper than the 981 when you consider the extra standard equipment (PCM, Xenon, etc)

718 Cayman = 51.623 Euro
718 Cayman S = 64.118 Euro

718 Boxster = 53.646 Euro
718 Boxster S = 66.141 Euro

Those wheels on that blue cayman are awful. Comedy size bin lids! Way way too blingy.

Not happy.

Regardless of the whole turbo 4 cylinder apocalypse - when you consider the available performance, I think this represents good value.

Bluetooth is now standard (think it was about £400 on the 981). If you cough up £400 for the Connect Pack (Apple CarPlay) you can use the Apple Maps app from your iPhone as your Sat Nav on the PCM screen. Might not be as sexy as Google Earth powered PCM Nav but saves you £1000. thumbup

Those wheels are virtually Audi RS wheels circa 2007................
