I can't fault your logic with the numbers, as I had similar figures in my head.

This is the example that's caught my eye: http://www.top555.co.uk/stock/details/Porsche-911-... which has all the bits I am after. However, there are a number of others which are of a lesser spec which are listed for even more but id rather buy from a OPC where possible. What's the price of entry for one of these? As I had around the 135K mark in my head.
Not sure what you mean by price of entry - but if it helps it would have cost about £k 118 when new . I do agree that the depreciation logic is the true cost of ownership not the ticket price - a lot of people confuse the two . All I can say is they are the most epic cars and I would never buy a non GT3 / RS 911 again smile

All I mean by that is the variation in the advertised price, fair enough if its a really high spec. As looking at the prices this morning its seem to vary from 120k ~ to 180k ~ but I feel around the 135K mark is a fair price. The other thing for me is getting over the fact that I've never in my life paid over list for a car.

I do believe it’s the next step for me after my GTS, it’s a case of finding the correct one.

Sorry about taking this off topic so ill update cowboyengineer's post with more questions.

So how many that own Boxster /Caymans have actually seen their engine or let alone care what it looks like. I for one having owned 14 Porsche's 6 of them Boxsters do not give a jot what it looks like and to say an engine looks ugly ...well sorry no idea where that comes from .I personally thought that as a non technical person it was interesting to see what is under the cover .I think you guys should go get a job with Porsche as you clearly appear to know more than they do about what is right or wrong in building a successful product .

If this turbo engineering had to be done, why didn't they leave it until the next "all new" model. At least it would have left it less complex fitting everything in. Would the 981 have been designed with the 4 cylinder in mind, you would hope it was.
I presume the 6 turbo won't fit?

Interesting. It says there are revised gear ratios but according to this http://press.porsche.com/newyorkautoshow2016/pdf/2... the gear ratios are unchanged, though the PDK car gets a 3.62 final drive (the manual stays at 3.89)

I wouldn't pay too much attention to anything in that video. It's fairly cringeworthy.

When I was in the OPC for my test drive I was told that you can get a £1,500 deposit contribution and 7% discount on previous model Boxsters. So for those that prefer that version and think it'll hold its value it's an option.

That sounds pretty miserly to me. I expect you'd get a fair bit larger a discount if push came to shove.

Do you mean 6 cyl 981 Boxster's but new registrations? On the assumption they have some stock of course

Yes 981 and they had a couple in the showroom.

Quite a good deal as it makes them 7-8k cheaper than a 718 boxster although I suspect they may have a load of overprices poor options like PCM.

Not that polished, but it's rare that you get a video of the guts and shows (if you didn't know already) how tight packaging has become (and how expensive repairs are likely as a result). They are not alone is making vague references to altered gearing - probably because some press release was equally vague. I'm a bit surprised in the base Cayman isn't affected and a bit sluggish off the line in normal driving - but no reports have mentioned it.

I've no interest in the F4 as an ownership proposition but anything lifting the lid on how mechanical stuff works will get my attention. Put it this way, if they did one of those How It's Made documentaries on the 718 explaining why and showing how.... I'd be all over it.
