That pretty much sums up my thoughts completely. However, the only difference is I quiet like the PDK but I have no preference. It’s also one of the reason I love my 981 CGTS is because of the NA engine. This is why I have been considering the GT3 as for me it’s a weekend toy and not an everyday car.

I guess I need to go a drive one and see. However, the spec seems to be an issue on the GT3 as I don’t want a comfort spec on and the prices wildly vary.

The GT3 v 981 GTS really are chalk and cheese but the 981 would be a smart purchase and good value for money imo....not that many good spec cars around and last of a line should ensure relatively cheap and involving motoring.
My GTS pretty much has every option on it, as I went a little mad. However, this was only due to not being able to get a GT4. I've always wanted a GT3 but not sure its worth the upgrade as I am not a fan of paying overs for a car. So I am weighing up the options at the moment.

This question is aimed at cmoose or anyone who would like to answer, what are you thought’s and feelings on the 991.2 compared to the 981 CTGS? As I have been wondering about an upgrade next year or do I go the whole way and pay over the odds for a GT3?
Personally liked the 991.2 (S) engine power characteristics - really no ifs or buts with PDK (I haven't driven a manual). PDK in auto makes turbo lag a non issue for me - though put it in manual mode and there is some - but not a lot. The exhaust, however, was noisy in either normal or sport and rather characterless. Stupidly fast without getting near the rev limit, so I'd certainly not pay for an S over a standard Carrera. Handling wise (mine was a cab) with no rear wheel steer - too much understeer and the cab chassis is not very stiff which you notice as a bit of body shimmer (can't think of a better way to describe it). Ride was pretty dreadful compared with my S on PASM (even with mine in sport) - wife hated it.

All in all I preferred the engine characteristics to the NA 6, but in truth I would have liked it more with less power, so you could extend the car more when the mood took you.

PDK+ is definitely as a step forward - both crisper and smoother.

But despite all that I wouldn't swap mine for one - even if they were the same price. If RWS gets rid of the understeer I would have liked it more.

i don't know anything about engines but if we take sound out of it for a minute, isn't what you've asked for essentially the F4T?

Must say I'm a bit stupefied when it comes to talk about lag in modern turbo engines, fine if you don't like the character, but I just can't imagine lag issues even worth mentioning in something like a 991.2?

I mean even in my old sled, lag is a total non issue and it's something I drive around without even noticing. Hell, even when I had the 930 I rarely found it to be an issue.

But I do love turbo's, tuned two strokes and highly strung engines in general so maybe it's just me

Exactly that. I have driven plenty of turbo cars that apparently have only "imperceptible" lag, and it's bloody perceptible and bloody annoying to me. Some people cannot discern the difference between good and bad tyres, too. tongue out

Yeah I didn't mean (and can't imagine) the 991.2 is highly strung, but because my preference is for engines with a more pronounced powerband I guess lag doesn't bother me like it does others.

Essentially yes - but I have yet to see if the sound and, more importantly to me, the refinement are what I want.

It's totally worth it! It's a totally different car to the Cayman GTS, makes the Cayman feel like a ford focus in comparison.

Both are great cars, GT3 is more of an event. Where are you based?

That's easy - pay over the odds for a GT3 smile

Maybe the 991.2 gt3 will be an answer to our prayers , N/A ,manual, short ratios and improved steering feel! (991R but cheaper)
That's if you can get one!

Glad you like them. I'd love to say they were taken with some fancy photographic gear... But it was my iPhone. laugh

I'm more than happy for you to photoshop them. I'm fancying GT Silver myself. Love the Miami Blue but it pains me to fork out £1800 for a colour! Yes, I'm a tight Northerner. biggrin
iPhone? not bad at all.

thanks for letting me butcher your images smile

Don't think we can say that for sure until they offer a GT3 with both and see what the manual/pdk split is.
