Zunsport side/intake grilles - worth it on a 981?

Hi Dave (djmc) image finding you on here. Strange but my rads were only 12 months old when I bought my 987.1 used and they looked very similar to yours, loads of little impact marks on them.
Hi Mark. As you know, I only went to Zunsport to get the rears fitted, as I'd heard (unfounded) issues with the clips. I'd never really looked at the rads properly until they raised the front up on their hydraulic platform to eye level. Then the front grilles suddenly became essential!

of the clips on CaymanOC.com. Or really about the quality of the fit not the clips. I suppose 99% of people would be happy with the fit, I just though and still do that my method of fitting them is better lol. When's the next meet by the way. Looking forward to it.

Yours were about the fit, but the clip issue was here: http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-and-boxster-mod...of the clips on CaymanOC.com. Or really about the quality of the fit not the clips. When Zunsport fitted my rears, their technician inserted a screwdriver and pushed the top clips into position, which is what I think our planet-9 friend had omitted to do. Two technicians then pulled on each grille and it didn't budge. They were satisfied there was nothing wrong with the design of the clips, and so was I.
The 981 rears are a perfect fit, whereas I accept your 987 rears needed a little fettling.
I'm not sure I'd want to be removing the grilles once fitted. The clips have teeth and really grip into the plastic trim, so removing them would be an issue - even more so if you wanted to re-fit the grilles again.
I'm curious as to how mine would affect the possibility of warranty extension, but to be honest I think driving around without them is such a risk to the radiators/condensers on a GTS I'd rather forfeit the warranty. I think it's more likely I'll have to pay out for rad damage than it is claim on the extended warranty on a 981.

Has anyone had issues with OPC warranty repairs having had zunsport grilles installed? Any feedback much appreciated as seriously considering getting a set of these.
Before fitting mine, Avril Smith at OPC Sutton Coldfield/Wolverhampton confirmed no issues with warranty when fitted. After fitting, OPC Leicester had the car for service and service rep mentioned the technicians had been commenting on what a good idea they were. She added, naturally, that Porsche wouldn't agree to any link up with Zunsport despite their being OEM manufacturers for many other brands. Shame, but I guess it keeps the Porsche radiator factory in profit.

Good to hear the factory warranty is OK with them fitted - was that the OPC's opinion or did they check with Porsche UK?
I'm curious as to the position re. extended warranty from years 4 onwards...
Avril was a technician for 15 years or so, now service adviser. She said "fine" off the top of her head so best check with your OPC or Porsche GB.I'm curious as to the position re. extended warranty from years 4 onwards...
Naturally you may get varying answers, as per usual.
