I tried the same but no availability like you have found. Going to switch to a manufacturer who doesn't seem to create these self inflicted issues.
The problem is we have is limited choice if you stick to the "N" rated tyres, so that leaves you with two options, which are Pirelli and Goodyear. However, after the really poor performance of the P-Zero tyres, I refuse to use them again as in cold and/or wet conditions they are unpredictable at best.

I had the normal lecture from Camskill about putting non N rated tyres on the car, which I have confirmed with my insurance and OPC (I have this in writing) that it doesn't effect my warranty or insurance.

So I am going to persevere with the MPSS for a little while yet as I am not desperate for tyres. If I've not had any luck by the end of the year I'll change to Goodyears.

I have noticed I can get a 265 35 20 Y 99 which are wildly available but I'd rather stick to the OE values.

An update for anyone interested. I swapped my Pirelli PZeros for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 a couple of weeks or so ago and it has been a revelation. This is on a 981 Boxster S, 20" rims and had to be N0 for warranty reasons

Much less road noise, better ride (although this could be down to new tyres) and seemingly more grip. The other thing that has gone is that Ackerman effect tyre shudder when reversing on near full lock - I hated that "jumping" feeling when on the Pirellis

It was a bit of a struggle to get the tyres - firstly Porsche didn't acknowledge that there was any other option than Pirellis when I asked them, but they did finally find them "in the computer" and so I booked in a fitting

I then approached my indy tyre fitter and they told me that Goodyear themselves said that they didn't make the fronts in the required profile (235/35 R20). When I insisted that they did, because I can source them on the internet and Porsche have quoted to fit them, they went back and made more enquiries and lo and behold, they found them after all

Seems that Pirelli is the "default" choice and you need to be a bit more persistent if you want something different!

Indy was £200 cheaper to fit than the OPC

No regrets so far, Goodyear is by far the better tyre IMO

I was told (Hatfield) that if I didn't fit N rated tyres it invalidated the warranty because Porsche couldn't be sure how untested tyres might effect the whole drivetrain. Obviously this is complete bks but they've got us over a barrel.

I'd like to see them prove that, as they would need to demonstrate how parts related to the tyres are effected. Otherwise it holds no legal weight.

Another (approved) alternative are the new N1 Pirelli PZeros - I have a set on my 981S and, road noise apart, they are subjectively better in every respect than their predecessors. I can't say they are better than Eagles - but I have had a set of them on 18" wheels on my car (my Pirellis are on 19s) and I prefer the Pirellis on 19s to the Eagles on 18s. How much is due to the change of wheel size is obviously difficult to quantify - better steering feel on the Eagles though (and a bit better ride - but you would expect that from the smaller wheels).

I wonder when the new N rated PS4 tyre will be out in 20" sizes?

Jamie McWhir, Michelin head of technical, told me months ago the 235 and 265 sizes were being released for the 718 launch. Every 718 I have looked at has had PZeros.

I went with the GY F1 A2 from PZeros 6k miles ago after my good experience with them on my TTS. No issues with them at all, just as with that car, and I expect long life too.

I was quoted the end of the year for 19" PS4.

I could probably have tried your route and asked Pirelli to pay for some Eagles for the front as mine where cracking like yours (I had to buy the rears anyway). But - since the 718 steering was a noticeable step forward (on N1 Pirellis), and my experience with the 18" Eagles was a bit mixed, I thought I'd give N1s a punt.

I noticed on the German guys test on youtube that he pointed out the kerb protectors on the tyres (why kerbs need protecting, I don't know) . But (my) N1s don't have kerb protectors - so I assume that N1s WEREN'T fitted.
