Hello all,

First post here..Just put in my order today at Guildford after a test drive.
Looking at a Feb/March delivery.

- Cayman S 718
- Agate Grey
- 20" Carerra S alloys in gloss black
- PDK
- Chrono
- Sport suspension PASM
- Sports exhaust black tips
- Bi-Xenon pack in black
- Tinted taillights
- Connect pack

Have to say, had my heart set on a flat six 981 but the new car was cheaper to buy than a second hand late 981.
Sound isn't great, but goes like stink. Was super impressed with the chassis.

Dealer advised getting nav as it helps resale value? Does anyone have experience here?
With connect and Waze i'm sorted so am not fussed with nav personally.

Pictures of my config from the configurator..

Welcome aboard.

With Connect you can display Apple Maps on the 7inch display via CarPlay but not Waze. Apparently the Apple Maps resolution is not great and of course you will need a GSM connection to run either so keep to the beaten track smile

My Salesman also stated that for resale the Nav module for PCM was a must..I am not convinced this is so relevant now that CarPlay is available but I caved in and went for the Nav with Connect Plus.

Lucky enough to be invited to a Charity Ball by my OPC last night (the wife is still recovering from the free booze as we speak!).

Mentioned they had 3 Caymans arrive yesterday. Asked if I'd like to have a peek this weekend.

I'll post pics later. thumbup

Ordered 2 new Porsches in recent years. Had the "is Nav essential for resale?" conversation with my OPC on both occasions.

Their opinion was a resounding "No. It's your car, spec what you like".

However, they did also say that Nav and PDK were pretty much the only options that retained any value come trade in time. So, not essential but if you fork out £1000 for Nav today you should get your money back later.

I was advised by friends to get satnav + connect plus as is generally a requirement when looking for s/hand cars

I went with same car colour & wheels but satin platinum finish................

Good luck with expected delivery

Thanks Alan, still not made my mind up as 'another' 1000 or so on top - will have to see.
Car looks awesome in this combination I think. Now I got my order in, the dealer is letting me out next week in a car on my own which should be fun :-)

Carrera white.

Saw the 2 whites side by side in an OPC a few weeks ago and under the lights of the showroom, carrera white had a lovely bright sparkle to it.

Anyone else noticed how small the rear discs appear behind 20" Carrera S wheels ?

White looks great in the showroom - but you'll need to be handy with a bucket and sponge once you get out into reality! White shows dirt very easily (as does black).

Sorry Ozzie, disagree re white. I have been running white Spyder since 2010 and it has been easiest car I have had to keep clean. In fact I have Never taken a bucket of water/hose near it ! OK it is a bit of a "garage queen" with only 14K and it isn't taken out in the rain but it doesn't show dust in the way a darker colour does. I simply use a "rapid detailer" product to keep it clean. In general I find lighter colours appear clean much longer than darker colours (including my daily drivers over the years).

^^This. My last 2 cars have been white (and were my daily drivers) and they were always looking pretty clean without any TLC from me - I suspect that the Gtechniq detail each had from new helped to achieve this appearance. My Cayman on order is also boggo white.

Another +1 from me re: white.

Although like all colours it looks best if you keep it clean, my current car is white (and one prior to that was black) and its FAR FAR easier than black to keep it looking good.
