Any thoughts on the following Spec?

Spec...savers?

Each to their own and all that smile .. I think the configurator is misleading... It looks more dark brown than tan which I suspect is not true to life.. Espresso may be more what I was after. I fancied a change from black or grey.

Each to their own indeed ... I think agate grey with saddle tan is a good combo.

But you choose a grey car? Admittedly it's better than the grey primer colour.

A year ago, when I was looking at 981 colours, we were driving down the highway in Florida and my wife said "Look! Every single car is black, grey, or silver!"

I know there's "popular" but there's also "common" and "boring".

Having said all that, I too ended up with "boring" but then I wasn't buying new with a full choice.

See, I like that combo too, boring or not.

I agree in general ref Silver/Grey cars but they do suit certain marques and models.. I won't always go with the obvious choice..For my next Discovery I'm considering dark green or even that burgundy colour the Queen has on her cars..

I saw the Youtuber link of that dark blue 911 with the Sport-tex interior a while back and liked that combo too.. that would be a contender for a Cayman. I also like the Yellow but I think I'd tire of it.

Silver or grey with tan/brown interior is a combo that works for me. I'd be interested to see what it looked like with more retro looking white or beige dials too (you can even have them in the Sports Chrono clock).

The Porsche Cayman/Boxster is interesting in that they say what colour combos they recommend and even "especially" recommends....The night blue metallic with the graphite blue/crayon interior is not one of them which seems strange as it's blue with blue. Yet they recommend the graphite blue/crayon interior with a black exterior! Which seems wrong to me?

A question for those who have ordered from Porsche, do the dealers try and push certain colours and combinations on you with a view to the resale? Especially if you're buying on a PCP plan?

Yeah I don't get the Sat Nav pushing. Maps is always going to be more up to date on your phone so why bother with the integrated nav? Just use Carplay when you have to. Plus I assume you have to also spec the Connect Plus to get the full use of the integrated Nav which is crazy.

But maps on connect is only useful if you have a signal is it not? plus it uses data allowance. Not sure how good Google Maps / Apple Maps is compared to a sat nav, my colleague uses google maps and has been late to quite a few meetings which pisses me off.

Just having a play as I think this may be my next car when the Golf goes back.. Any thoughts on the following Spec?

Base price 718 Cayman
Agate Grey Metallic
Saddle Tan leather interior
6-speed manual gearbox
20-inch Carrera S wheels in satin platinum
Standard Sports seats (2-way, electric)
Digital radio
Connect
I'd be more inclined to go with the two tone black and tan interior. It's not a colour choice I'd pick, but i did see a metallic black with the black/tan interior at an OPC and it did look quite nice.

I guess it depends whether Apple make the move to an offline map system or allow the available third party offline map apps to use CarPlay. I don't use sat-nav much so I've gone with Connect in the hope that comes true.

I would definitely go with connect if not using Nav extensively but for me I use it all the time for work so definitely worth it to me. As you state offline mapping would be a huge plus

I currently drive a BMW 430d GC and it as the pro sat nav as standard with real time traffic info also. All as standard by the way, all the connection services plus concierge. The real time info is very good, it's extremely accurate and tells me of any traffic issues and provided diversions when needed.

But whether I'd fork out for that with Porsche is another matter, Over here the sat nav would be €2K and another €1.5K for connect plus. That's extortionate imho.

Nope. Dealer didn't push or even suggest a single thing.

After agreeing to go ahead with the purchase, the dealer left me in front of the configurator with a coffee to select the colours and options that I wanted to go with. A buying experience which suited me perfectly.

Will you be tracking the car?

I just went with the default black interior. Just wanted to make sure i had ALL the performance options (so i added Sports chrono package, PTV and PASM)

went with 19" rims because i liked the comfort.

i don't know if i'll be tracking, but i want to have the option to do so , thus i decided to add every single performance option.
