Nav and connect were late decisions, and ended up bumping a few things I fancied but didn't really need off the spec.

OPC Bolton have been fine about lending me demo cars to try, but have had to book well in advance as there were big queues of people wanting to see/hear the new engine. Understandable given how "marmite" going turbo 4 has turned out to be. wink

Liam, good spec, however am glad to see not the only one having rear wiper! I debated for 6mnths, viewed with/without, due to a lot of rain in UK, & didn't want to wipe off every morning in the winter, I'd forgo the smooth lines @ the rear.
My late choices were satnav, connect+ & dig rad .........for me to play but also when I have to sell - my son said it's a must have.

I based my rear window wiper decision on a model 911 my dad had in the early 70s. I must have been about 8 years old and I thought that rear wiper looked great. Hummed and hahed, and when it came to pressing the button, I'm having one on my first Porsche... smile

Nav and connect+ are for exactly the same reason your son came up with. Might not sell for any more, but will definitely sell easier.

Sounds good, but I prefer carmine red, but each to there own, otherwise we'd all be driving the same colour !
Not too sure about Luxor interior, I have viewed quite a few 718's now & it's great with Black exterior, but thought it was a bit "yellowy" for my liking. I went for Crayon but may live to regret it as will need to be kept clean & no unwashed denims !

I have went for same wheels but in Satin Black as Gloss is a nightmare to keep clean and Satin hides a bit more dirt wink

Got some quotes through from Porsche now. I'm curious what APR rates people have managed to get. Care to share?

9.9% last year

6.9% new rate this year.

So I'm pleased my car was delayed by 4-5 months from that point of view

My advice would be to use your banks new car finance products. When I bought new last year Lloyds were offering 3.3% against Porsche's 9.3% (eventually went down to 8.5%). The difference in interest over 30 months was over £5,000.

Yes, but I don't know if it's the exhaust or bigger engine capacity. Definitely different though. The S definitely sound a little deeper, and does a little more of the interesting noises on overrun.

And thanks to those that mentioned it for the heads up for using my bank for finance. Not sure I'll need it (fingers crossed) but if I do, my bank is much lower cost than Porsche.

That's interesting. I haven't heard anyone mentioning this before even though the whole engine note thing has been blown out of proportions imo.

By interesting noises you mean pops and bangs? You still get them with the base mode w sports exhaust system ?

As Liam said, there is a noticeable difference in sound between the two engines. I've only seen a couple of reviews that have mentioned it and yes, there is some irony given the criticism of the 718's sound that this hasn't been picked up on more. You can get a hint of the difference about seven minutes into this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT1JNv3Pk_M&t=... It's more noticeable in real life if you hear them back to back. I would characterise the 2.0 as being smoother and higher pitched, whereas the 2.5 is bassier, a bit louder and more mechanical. Personally, I prefer the sound of the 2.0.

As far as PSE is concerned, I was at the PEC today and drove a PDK equipped 2.0 with PSE and a manual 2.0 without PSE. For me there was very little difference between PSE and non-PSE from within the car, other than the PSE one being a tiny bit louder than the non-PSE when turned off. Strangely, the biggest difference in an exhaust note was on the non-PSE car when switched from ordinary to sport. This link gives a good example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVljJYr8stY I didn't miss the absence of PSE on the non-PSE car and found the sound quite adequate. There may well be a bigger difference from outside the car, but for me the cost against the additional noise isn't worth it as a driver.

Unrelated to your post, but I'll mention it in this post, the biggest surprise of the day was coming out preferring PDK over manual. If I was asked yesterday, I would have said exactly the same as the above poster, awesome spec by the way smile. However, I've changed my mind entirely. It may be having had a bit more seat time and the ability to push the car a bit more, but the PDK car was more fun and confidence inspiring than the manual. I had been put off by some reviews saying the PDK wasn't great with the 2.0, but I didn't find any of those criticisms true. In fact, I would have rather stayed with the PDK than move to the manual.

On a colour note, they didn't have my combination together (graphite blue, graphite blue/crayon sportex and Carrrera Sport wheels) although all elements were on different cars. One car I drove had that interior and I'm very happy with my choice there. The best looking combination was a Cayman S in the showroom. Lava Orange, Agate full leather and satin Carrera wheels. It looked absolutely stunning and worthy of consideration for anyone interested in lava orange.

Ultimately the PEC day is well worth it not just for the driving experience but also exploring the various options available.

I agree with you on this and it looked stunning - so much so that I changed my order to match it.

I have since decided that seeing it under the showroom lights is one thing and that it might not age well so I have plumped for Carmine Red which I saw on the PEC day and also looked stunning. I think there is little risk of me disliking that after a few years.

I was at the Porsche experience day yesterday as well
Liked the graphite/crayon sportex a lot but I've had to do my final spec
The graphite blue part of the seats looked black/grey but on the config and on the internet it looks navy blue
I've gone for night blue with turbo wheels and black/crayon leather and was lucky enough to see the colour and wheels but not the interior
I was going for graphite blue car and there were plenty on display but thought in some light it was grey/ purple or grey and not blue enoughso changed it just before lockdown

Yes. Can't remember, but seem to recall they are pretty subtle unless you go for sports chrono in sports plus mode and press the hyper-space button.
