Standard headlights are Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running light, which are good enough IMHO. Had PDLS+ LED whatsits on the 991 and whilst good, I would not pay for them myself.

Whoa that is one tasty 991.

What's the reason for the change to a 718?

Fancied a change of dynamic - from a 4 seater RR soft-top to a 2 seater MR hard-top?

Got a great offer for the 991, jumping out for nearly no loss. Just between jobs, and the delay in the new car is useful.

Have had all sorts of cars, (see profile!), and from a Porsche point of view, 987 Cayman S, 997 911 S, 987 Boxster (x2), Cayenne D, Cayenne SD (current), and 981 Cayman S before the 991 GTS Cab.

991 GTS cab was awesome in terms of grunt, but having driven the Cayman on the track, and having no need for the rear seats the Cayman just ticks all the boxes for me. Even with a VERY generous spec it is just over 60k, whereas a new 991 S with a few bits is £40k more than that and it just doesnt feel worth it IMHO. The GTS was a demo, £120k new. I paid a lot less than that, but it still niggled me that it didnt feel that much better than my 981 with full leather and adaptive seats!

Not generally a fan of the 911 cab, but that is stunning. It's also interesting to read someone say what I've suspected for a little while about 991 vs 981. Did I mention what a stunning car? I may be biased though!

Love the sapphire blue.

Very nice. If I had not just sold a Sapphire blue car I might have had it on the 718!

Hi all,

I have recently put down a deposit on a 718 Cayman and am having trouble finalizing my interior colour/fabric choice.

I'm pretty much set on Sapphire Blue as the exterior colour but struggling to decide between the following:

Full leather - Black
Full leather - Black/Crayon two tone
Sport-Tex - Black

I know it's a personal choice but it's proving impossible to find any pictures or video footage of a 718 in Sapphire Blue. Has anybody seen or owned a Cayman (any generation) with any of the above colour combinations besides black?

Thanks smile

Sapphire is a great colour, and I would go for it had I not just sold a car of the same hue.

I like sport tex, as it brings full leather and deviated stitching which lifts the interior. I like the grippier surface which wont be so hot in summer/cold in winter. Breaks things up a bit too.

Blue interiors are just not my thing, but I think they crayon and blue sport tex with sapphire could be nice.

Thanks for the reply smile

Completely agree about the deviated stitching and it being more pleasant in summer/winter, my only concern is whether the black Sport-Tex material looks good/suits the car. It's hard to tell from just pictures and although it looks great in the blue I don't think I want a blue interior.

I wish it was available on the Boxster so there were at least some cars with it in the showroom frown

Any idea when discounts for 718 Caymans are likely to be available? Was in my local dealer a few days ago and test drove a 981 base and a 718 Boxster S, both PDK. I actually preferred the 981 overall but wouldn't pay more for a 2 year old car that a brand new one so was going to go with the 718 base. I was quoted 7.3% apr finance as opposed to the 6.9% advertised on the Porsche website for some reason, and was wondering if discounts/dealer deposits are likely to occur anytime in the next year if anyone knows from experience of Porsche with new models?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Ordered my Cayman a month ago, on Porsche finance.

My quotes agreed with dealer were exactly the as the website (no idea why I had to see the finance manager!) and I managed a reasonable (£2k + some goodies from the Porsche Shop) discount.

Well done. A lot are saying they wont budge. I managed a reasonable amount but not as much as that.

Although I've only previously bought one car from my OPC I have a pretty good relationship with them. I didn't expect any discount/deal to be honest with the 718 being so new. However, went with a different salesman to the usual guy I deal with to put some fuel in their Boxster demo before a test drive. Got talking about me fancying the PSE, "I'm sure we could chuck one into a deal" says salesman. Hmmm, interesting.

I'd also been very honest with OPC that I'd been offered a sweet deal on an M4. When I returned the Boxster demo my usual sales guy says "don't do anything about the M4 until you speak to me. I'm sure we can work out a deal on a Cayman".
Hmmm, more interesting.

Finally, another poster on here (can't remember his name but a nice bloke from Barnsley who I now owe a beer) mentioned his local OPC offered a £2000 discount the moment he mentioned buying a 718.

Abridged version of the ordering process...
OPC: List price please. Sign here.
Me: Erm, no.
OPC: List price for Cayman but we'll give you £1600 of GAP, tyre cover, SMART etc for free.
Me: Nah, mate of mine been offered £2000 off list. But I do want tyre cover.
OPC: Ok, £2000 off inc tyre cover.
Me: Chuck in some Porsche goodies (got a £100 fleece and a £25 mug last time) and we've got a deal.
OPC: Ok.

Deal done.
