The problem with that approach is that the 718 will be centered at the factory and adding an S will put the whole thing off centre

Seems like 718 S may be a goer then ... if OPC can be a little accommodating.

Nice. Like the subtle splashes of red in the interior - with the chrono and the seat belts. Looks good.

Looks ok with the 19" rims too.

Rest of your spec pretty much matches mine. Except you're going all out on the seats which I haven't convinced myself to do. smile

PM me and I can give you details of my dealer. In fact I am there tomorrow with my wifes Cayenne in for service.

I wasnt going to go for memory seats but my wife insisted as we both move the seat about! first world problems.

Just dont love any of the 20" wheels or the standard 19s, and think it will ride nicely on the 19s.

with the chrono
For road drivers chrono is IMO an expensive, shiny toy stuck on the dashboard. You'll play with it twice to show your mates and that will be it. I'd prefer to spend £1,000+ on things which will be in regular use/enjoyment.

Purely personal opinion of course.

Sport Chrono Package
Adrenaline at the push of a button, goose bumps included: the functions of the optional Sport Chrono Package enable an even sportier tuning of the vehicle – and launch you to unprecedented sporty heights.
What’s new is the mode switch on the steering wheel, derived from the 918 Spyder to make you feel closer to the racetrack. Without your hand leaving the steering wheel, you can choose any of four settings: Normal, SPORT, SPORT PLUS and Individual. Now you can adapt the vehicle even more to the way you want to drive.
In conjunction with PDK, the Sport Chrono Package has three additional functions. The first is ‘Launch Control’, which can be used to achieve the best possible standing start – a racing start.
The second function is the motorsportderived gearshift strategy. In this mode, PDK is geared up for extremely short shift times and optimum shift points for the maximum acceleration available. This combination of uncompromising and involving performance is ideal for the racetrack.
The third function – SPORT Response – is an absolute first in the new 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman. Pressing the button in the centre of the mode switch primes the engine and transmission for the fastest possible unleashing of power. In other words, maximum responsiveness – for a period of approximately 20 seconds. A timer graphic in the instrument cluster tells you how long is left.
Another component of the Sport Chrono Package is the stopwatch on the dashboard. PCM is upgraded to include a performance display, enabling you to view, store and evaluate laps or other driving times.
Dynamic transmission mounts are also part of the Sport Chrono Package. The electronically controlled system minimises the perceptible oscillations and vibrations of the entire drivetrain and combines the benefits of a hard or soft transmission mounting arrangement to offer a sporty yet comfortable cornering experience. In short, it enhances both driving stability and driving comfort.

Seems to offer quite a lot more with PDK than just a stopwatch on the dash and represents relative value in comparison to auto wipers, auto climate, multi function steering wheel and basic cruise control which together cost around the same. Of course these comfort options should all be standard anyway.

Just my opinion.

Regarding sport chrono, when I eventually come to ordering, I intend to spec it because as far as I'm aware it also brings "rev matching" on downshifts on a manual equipped car. I don't consider myself a Ph driving god so it's a nice (presuming it can also be turned off) have while still learning the car.
Bugger. Seems this rev-matching auto-blip thing only comes with Sport Chrono, and not with the standard sport button on the console, for a manual 'box. I NEEDS IT.
...

Chrono was not an option I was intending to spec, as you say it's not something I would use at all ..

... until I discovered that rev-match does not come with the standard sport button, only with Chrono. frown

+1.

Useless. unless you're tracking the car regularly.

...in my opinion, having had it for a day and a half's test drive. (981).

Yawn. And for those that need rev-matching, just learn to do it yourselves.

Was sat a bar today, noticed a white 981 Cayman. Think non s bt was de badged.

Looked great and had pse.

Sounded glorious, looked amazing.

I'm starting to wobble on going brand new. But from a finance perspective makes sense to go new!

In which case you can ignore this brand new white 981S!

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

I have specced FOC white on my 718S but I must say I was down Pompey a week ago and nearly popped in to discuss a deal on this beauty. I presume Porsche New Car finance would be available on it...very tempting.

Hi all. Just thought I would post here my final two ideal spec'ed 718 caymans before I finally decide before lockdown on my order.

I have previously owned a 2008 Cayman s and a 2013 boxster which I sold in May when I placed my 718 deposit.

Anyway on to my preferred specs:

The only real difference is the interior colour - thoughts?

Also still can't decide between flat white and metallic white - thoughts on that too? It's getting so close to order time.

http://www.porsche-code.com/PHPK2EZ1

Finally there has been much debate on here and some of it really bhy but they are absolutely fantastic cars to drive.

Thoughts appreciated.
