Thanks guys.

£599 Swiss ste is the cost of them swirling your paintwork.

The fact that they stick it on your invoice without telling you is just so shifty.

Management of expectations at its worse. A bit like the total price not being the total price...
Heh. I have heard the dealer detailing should be avoided.

I'll opt out then. Cheers Nick.

I've said no to the detailing too.

Can't decide whether to spend £999 for the full monty gtechniq? Or shall I just polish it myself occasionally...

Have a read about gtechniq.... it's quite and involved process.
My friend recently picked a Cayman R from an OPC, he opted for Swissvax. They car looked stunning when he picked it up and still does.
Doing it yourself depends if you are into maintaining the look of your car or want to.
If you look after the your car you would rarely need to 'polish' it. I suspect what you really mean is apply wax or some other form of protection.
From what I understand, once applied, GTechniq requires little work to maintain a good look.

Not doing it myself, that's what I'm paying £999 quid for!

Sorry, I meant cleaning and waxing the car yourself, not applying GTechniq.

A mate runs Auto Curators of Hampshire. He protects all my cars; previously in Gtechniq, but more recently Williams. WAY less than 999 and he takes a day to do it properly.. Give him a call, tell him Ed sent you.

Just got a call from dealer to say that they have a cancelled 718 CaymanS slot, problem is that I now need to finalise spec as goes into lockdown on 29th September!

Still uncertain on Manual or PDK but dealer is getting demo cars and they have a manual 718 Cayman which I will be able to drive before lockdown.

Spec that I am looking at is :

Cayman S Manual or PDK ??
Gear lever in brushed aluminium
Graphite Blue Metallic
20 inch Carrera Classic with full colour Porsche crest
Black/Bordeaux Red two tone leather or Graphite Blue Sport Tex ??
Elec folding mirrors
Park assist Front/rear
PASM
Sport Chrono
Sports exhaust black
GT sports steering wheel
Sports seat plus 2 way elec
Seat heating
Porsche crest on headrests
DAB Radio

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

PCM is standard isn't it? Unless you mean Nav.

If not going for Nav, i'd suggest at least adding Connect as it gives the option for Iphone users to plug in their phone and use the Maps function on the PCM. Its only £400 so a decent saving versus outright Nav.

That aside, looks good!

With graphite I would conaider the blue and crayon sport tex. Good vid on here somewhere of that spec. Brings deviated stitching and looks great. Breaks up he interior and nice in hot and cold weather.

I prefer PDK, but its a personal thing, manual gives maximum involvement but the PDK box is pretty special in auto or manual mode.

I'd add auto dimming mirrors, climate and maybe cruise, not sure if its worthwhile speccing Sports Chrono unless you're tracking it? By sports exhaust do you mean just the black tips or PSE?

Otherwise all good smile

20" Carrera S - I'd add satin platinum as incl. crest & helps hide brake dust
Gear Lever in Aluminium...........have had problem in the past if car gets hot inside, metal gear knob gets too hot to handle ! I'd go PDK elleviates problem
Black/Bordeaux Red two tone leather or Graphite Blue Sport Tex ?? - not Red with Blue car?

Nice spec. I would drop Sport Chrono and go with 19s and maybe take the slip diff instead.

Go manual. One day they will be extinct and it will be great to have the last of the great manuals. You buy these cars to have fun and be engaged right?

You can't get the satin platinum on the Carrera Classic only on the Carrera S wheels.

Take you point on gear lever had not thought about that.

Problem with the graphite blue sport tex is that there is a lot of blue in the interior including Blue steering wheel and carpets which I don't like. In the black/Bordeaux you get quite a lot of black with red seats and lower part of door cards in red. Want to avoid something too bland like black. All down to personal taste but difficult without seeing it in the flesh as only looked at on configurator.

Agree with the blue interior comments, I am not a fan of blue interiors. That is why I am going black sport tex - it still has the nice silver stitching.

IMHO red interior on a blue car is a no no, and I have the hard copy brochure in front of me and it isnt a recommended option!

I would go with the 19s but don't like any of the wheel styles that are on offer. Not driven car with LSD but have with SC and liked it.

Have you seen the sport tex seats and sat on them? Just thought that they may look a bit 'poor mans Porsche' compared to the full leather?

Yes I had previously looked in the brochure and realised it is not a recommended option, can't see why as looks OK. I can understand why the full red would not look right.

I find that the full black interior can be a bit dark and prefer something a bit brighter- It's a Porsche not really a shrinking violet sort of car!
