Edo very sad.

Who was the dealer so we can all steer clear and put our business somewhere else?

What car you going to go for now?
Good dealer and sales guy, just let down with their allocation. I assume the person behind me will move up.

Just in the middle of starting a new job, so may wait a little; having said that I'm rather liking the idea of an M6 or MGGC with minimal miles for less than a lightly optioned Cayman (completely different car i know) so we shall see...

That's a shame, good luck with whatever you choose.

These new tax laws are a complete PITA, I have spoken to a few dealers over the last couple of weeks and most couldn't guarantee a pre April delivery.

So if you do decide to go down the new Porsche route at a later date, you will most likely be lumbered with ~£500 a year for 5 years.

How expensive is it to custom order the interior? I was checking out a friend's Merc C class coupe and admiring the interior. He opted for a burgundy leather which is only on the seats and door cards and looks classy.

I know it's part of Porsche's DNA to have single coloured interiors but quite frankly most are gaudy and you keep hearing about poor residuals and resale issues so why do they offer them? Beige or light (crayon) carpets don't strike me as being very durable and brown plastic and leather would remind me of a 70s British Leyland effort.

I have part leather / alcantara in my current car and the stitching is white which I believe would cost me a kidney in a Porsche.

I read earlier that someone put alcantara down as not being durable for bolsters on a seat which is not what I have experienced. I had grey alcantara bolsters and cloth inlays on my last car and it didn't show any sign of wear. I even bought some alcantara cleaner and never had to use it.

It always amazes me that people speak about cars being unsellable come trade-in if you don't spec nav, full leather, 19s etc etc but why do Porsche not just spec them as standard if they're so desirable. I love the fact that can you can spec a certain wheel/colour combo to transfer the look of the car between sporty, aggressive and plain classic but there really are far too many options and some should be standard on an expensive sports car. Some people seem to spec things just because they can and end up with cars looking a right dog's dinner. The Ronald McDonald's yellow/red 718 Boxster being a classic example.

Anyway, rant over but does anyone know how much it would be to have the door and dash black and just have coloured seats and door cards? Funnily enough, I haven't seen any pics on Google so I'm guessing no.

Because it allows Porsche to set "low" list prices, while knowing that almost everyone will add a decent amount of options.

Certain options do impact resale and the values if trading it in, the list isn't massive but imo the key ones are, gearbox, nav, alloys, heated seats, colour (interior and exterior).

I have just requested a Custom Interior quote for a 718 Cayman S from my local OPC ... so may report back when I receive this .

I have asked for ... Full Two tone Leather ..... Upper Dash / Door tops in Black leather with black stitching . Lower dash / door cards / lower console and armrest lid / seats in Cream Leather ( Cayenne S ) with matching stitching . Seat panels and inner seat bolsters in Sport-Tex black .

My OPC has offered me the opportunity of visiting the Custom Dept in Stuttgart to choose any option I like ... albeit at my expense . ( what's the cheapest way of getting there by air ? ) . I can also arrange a Factory Tour whilst I am there . .... Food for thought .

I quite liked the Luxor Beige but its too dark and the white stitching on the new black leather option looks really tacky .. more Toyota than Porsche .

Although I may have to go with the Two tone Luxor beige / Black if the quote is horrendous .

I've just watched Nick Murray's 911 spec'ing video on YouTube. I would be sitting down when they give you the quote.

Stuttgart is def worth a visit. I flew with KLM via Schiphol and stayed at the Rega hotel which is pretty central and cheap. The area isn't the nicest but it was only a few minutes walk from the nearest underground station and from there you can get to the Porsche and Merc museums very easily. There is a bar nearby that is covered in Porsche posters.

If you are going down that route I'd consider stitching on the black in cream, really shows up all the stuff that is leather.

I've gone for Two tone leather.......Agate grey (dash etc) with cream seats - looked really good on a Cayenne with Agate grey exterior...

Can't find it now, but a few days ago I was reading a review where the owner was talking about his "now denim coloured" cream leather seats. Have you thought this through?

Leather will be treated, I don't wear denim as it happens, but I went for what I liked rather than practicalities ! maybe I'll regret it - hope not.

I had a Mustang earlier this year with the cream seats and yes denim does stain. However the leather in the Mustang is awful nothing like Porsche standard.

I think maybe unwashed denim is the most dangerous. We have cream leather at home which is generally OK but once did have a little bleed from new denim. Removed with some effort using Autoglym Leather Care cream of some description.

Watch out for the Double Deckers too!

Have oyster (off-white, so a bit lighter than cream) leather seats on an M235i. In 2 years ownership from new, and being mostly clad in denim (from the waist down, this isn't the 80s y'know irked), the blue does transfer onto the seats, eventually.

However, have found the leather is easy enough to clean back to original colour. Haven't found it an issue tbh.

I'm getting cold feet on buying a 718. Work is crap so making me cautious.

Also some great deals on the all new S5. With all the kit on it. Plus can have one in Feb rather than waiting till april/may.

Sounds like you're also caught between a full on sports car and something a little more practical?

There is the practicality aspect yes with two little ones, wife going back to work soon, so may need to pick both up from nursery now and again or we need to be very organised who has what car.

The S5 deal at £450 a month is tempting with all the kit. In comparison to the Cayman will be light spec for another £150 a month. The Audi would be contract hire v pcp on the Porsche though.

Trade off is a Porsche, even brand new is usually easier to sell on with little or no financial costs. If work gets tricky I wont be saddled with a 2 year contract hire.

I may be better buying used as lesser depreciation. However with Porsche it doesn't seem to matter so much. We experienced that when we got a new cayenne and then sold on 2 years later.

Deposit back and alternative sourced!

Quite a different car. But 560hp and 680nm from 1500rpm should be sufficient...
