I'm still a while away from lockdown (I think), but think I've got my final spec as set below. Grateful for any comments?

2.0
Sapphire Blue
20" Carrera S wheels
Coloured centre caps
Standard interior
PASM
Sport Chrono
64 litre fuel tank
GT Steering wheel
Light design pack
Seat Heating
Smoking Pack
Passenger footwell storage net
ISOFIX Points
Navigation

What do people think of silver wheels against sapphire blue? I only ever seem to see them specced with platinum wheels, but I do miss having a clean silver wheel (my last 4 cars have had anthracite/grey wheels!).

Thanks.
I think either will look good, though I do prefer satin platinum, like the stealthy look.

If going standard, then I'd be tempted to spec the aluminium surround on the window, could work really well

(Not sure how much it costs, mind)

I have the satin platinum wheels on my CGTS and they do a great job of hiding the brake dust. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Interesting as I have satin black wheels on my 4 series and they are a bugger to get clean, the brake dust seems to really affect the satin coating. I'm thinking of going back to silver
Maybe Porsche use a better quality than other manufacturers hence easier to clean ?

+1.

Sometimes, when washing the car, I look at the wheels and wonder if they're dirty at all. Of course when you DO wash them you can see a difference but it's a little like having a white car (we now have two) in that the colour just goes a slightly darker shade.

Just playing with the configurator last night and noticed that there is PASM and sports suspension with 20mm drop. So does PASM not lower the ride height by 20mm by itself as I was led to believe on an S

2 available options:

1. PASM, which lowers the ride height by 10mm.
2. Sport Suspension with PASM, which lowers the ride height by 20mm

Looks good.

Glad you were able to update to the S.

No rain sensors with auto wipers on there? Essential option for me.

Yep they come with the dimming mirrors. I suspect there will be changes specifically I am completely undecided on colour and not 100% on alloy choice at the moment

Black looks nice (very occasionally), BUT I'd never, never, never, ever, ever, have another car in black after my last one prior to the Cayman. Clean for a second and then really pisses you off a day later when it looks dusty/dirty/rain splashed. Also, lighter colours show off the car's lines better.

Auto wipers - my 981 doesn't have them after five cars which did. Problem? No... JOY!! They actually wipe with an interval I SET and not when THEY want to. What a revelation, after being brainwashed into thinking I'm better off with Auto wipers.
I drove my wife's new BMW the other day in rain and noticed what a pig's ear the auto wipers made of getting the timing right, constantly having to change the interval switch to stop the rain or the squeaking wipers.

And... Auto dimming mirrors - don't have these either after three cars which did. Problem? No... I can actually see when there's a car behind/beside me now! When all three mirrors go dark it's sometime difficult to see poorly lit cars behind. Now, I lift what most drivers have... a left arm... and switch the little lever under the rear view mirror to dim it (remember those?) and voila, I cut the glare there whilst having both door mirrors telling me what's coming up on either side.

Some advances are actually retrograde (imo).

It's all personal choice, once you get used to certain functionality it can be annoying to have go back, especially when features like dimming mirrors / climate etc are standard on most cars.

Good spec, Carmine Red looks great with gloss or satin black wheels

Agreed black is a difficult colour to maintain, solid black only looks good immediately after cleaning, shows the dirt like nothing else. Metallic blacks are more forgiving and easier to live with.
I also think that Cayman/Boxster looks better in lighter colours.

Rain sensors and dipping mirrors you can live without, I have them on my BMW as they are standard features but I have not specced them on my Cayman. I would not object if they are standard but refuse to pay extra, would rather put the money into something that will tangibly improve the driving experience.

I agree that BMW's implementation of auto wipers is poor (M235i and M4 at least). Having had my wipers on nearly full time in the new 718 Cayman since last Saturday when I picked it up I can say that Porsche's implementation is excellent and I am glad that I specced it.
Heh, funny isn't it - goes to show how subjective this is. I find the auto wipers in my current M235i absolutely spot on. I've not had to override them once in 2 years of ownership.

BMW aren't always so consistent though. Had an E60 on which the auto wipers were never quite satisfactory.

Has anyone gone with 20mm lower suspension and more importantly has anyone any views on comfort vs standard PASM?

Yes I have gone with it.

I love the look of a lowered cayman on 20" wheels

Did you try 20's on the test car? I noticed a huge difference when PASM was added. Was uncomfortable for me without - though my back isn't the toughest
