I saw the same car and I tried to photoshop the Carera Classic wheels onto it which I think looks far better than the black wheels.
That chap I mentioned who's on YouTube, has just seen his new 911 C4S in the midnight blue and the GB/Crayon interior and it looks fantastic IMHO. The video is below:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CCb_7AlBaM

I went to another local OPC today that had 981s in Night and Sapphire Blue ... I'm still unsure. The Night Blue is inky and subtle and the sapphire has a very deep metal flake so it changes colours in different lights. More confused than ever.
I think I need to see a Sapphire Blue 718 because colour is very car specific in my opinion. If it were a GT4/981CGTS then Sapphire is fantastic - then I saw a 991 in Sapphire and it didn't look very good, however, in Night Blue the 991 looks great.

So I fell in love with lava orange and Platinum satin carrera S today at the POC. Never thought I'd say I'd want an orange car but it looks amazing in the flesh in my view.
I've seen a Lava boxster and it is a great colour but it is a brave colour on a modern car you will get lots of people looking at you and perhaps not for the right reasons. I have a more period orange car which is going to be coming back on the road after some renovation work, people tend to point and smile when I drive this by,
I'm just organising my experience day, what other colours were there at the moment? Did they also have a manual S as I've still to drive one?

had both colours on my GTS and Macan Turbo, the S is much better at the flash look with high gloss black the MNB is a classy colour matched well with light interiors IMO. So depends on image and purpose of your 718 I guess.
That's the thing ... I think bright vivid colours look great on certain cars. I've had a yellow Lotus Elise 135R, orange Exige even considered a green Elise Sport 160 once ... these sorts of colours suit those cars, and Lambos, McLarens even the GTs. Perhaps I'm getting less extrovert and am leaning toward the NB.If anyone has more pictures of a 718 in Sapphire Blue please post them, thanks.

Thanks ... looks quite a bit lighter than the colour when on the GT4. Might be the lighting. Does Porsche change the hue without changing the colour name? andywalton said:

Yeah I agree it's brave , honestly wouldn't have considered it before seeing it but I don't think it's that brazen. I get that some people may look for the wrong reasons but I also think a lot will really like it. I figure a lot of people will think i'm a cock for driving a Porsche anyway so why not have Orange if I like it.I have a more period orange car which is going to be coming back on the road after some renovation work, people tend to point and smile when I drive this by,

They had no Sapphire Blue or GT Silver which was disappointing as they were what I was choosing between but they had Rhodium, Carmine, Guards, Night Blue, Black, Miami Blue, White, Yellow and Agate Grey.
Carmine also looked really nice - I felt Rhodium looked ok but a bit bland, Carmine would be my next choice from what I saw.
I took my mate with me and we both felt that the bulk of people will order Silver / White / Black and why not be a bit different. We asked one of the staff to take us outside to look for a GT silver or Sapphire blue and he too said he though Lava Orange looked the best. You'll have to let me know what you think when you see it.

Good on you ... I like the Lava Orange, you'll need to take it to a track and get someone to photograph you ... vivid colours look great amongst all the tarmac. They had no Sapphire Blue or GT Silver which was disappointing as they were what I was choosing between but they had Rhodium, Carmine, Guards, Night Blue, Black, Miami Blue, White, Yellow and Agate Grey.

That's a pretty good selection of colours ... I think the only colours I've not seen in the flesh are Sapphire, Rhodium, Guards and Lava Orange on the Cayman (seen LO on a Boxster) so I should have seen most by the time I have to make a final decision.
I've been scouring the internet ... the US OPCs tend to have websites that let you see what new stock they have so I've seen a few Sapphire ones. Although the US photos do seem to be very under-exposed there were a couple of dealers where I could get a good view on Sapphire. I think I've discounted it ... not sure it suits the car. Which means I am now leaning Night Blue, Graphite or Rhodium.

See - with my Golf R. Guards Red is a close match for brake caliper red if that is important - I also went for the silver window surrounds which I think goes well and the 20" Carrera wheels
Looks awesome - Cayman certainly suits red.And it really shows up the Golf R, which just looks like a dull family hatch yer mum uses to go shopping in next to it.
Here's another picture
At dusk the colour fades slightly but I wouldn't really say it was pink, more of a pale red! I looked at Carmine but that is a fair bit darker going towards a sort of Ferrari red / brown almost and when I ordered it was a special colour costing about £1500 extra and given I preferred Guards Red anyway it was a fairly easy decision for me

Don't get me wrong it's nice , I like almost all the colours. So much so that it's been an absolute nightmare picking I just really liked Carmine when I saw them next to eachother. Could be that Carmine being that bit darker changed my perception of the colour.
Anyway I chose lava which nobody else seems to like so maybe I have dodgy taste

Hi there, I've read all 48 pages of this topic with great interest. I'm in the process of finalising my spec for a 718 Cayman but the one thing I'm really wrestling with is the PSE. This is my first Porsche, and I'm coming from a M135 which sounds great but my biggest regret with the car was not speccing the MPE for the pops and bangs.
Ok I know purists aren't a fan of the new flat four but I thought it sounds pretty good in sport with the standard exhaust considering (I test drove a Cayman S). Unfortunately my local dealer doesn't have a test model with PSE. I've read the press reviews but they seem so hung up about the four cylinder drone as they call it (which I don't entirely agree with) and suggest the PSE simply makes it worst. Of those of you who don't think the new flat four is that bad as everyone makes out, would you spec it?
I want the pops and crackles on the overrun. Love to hear views of future/real owners.
My spec
Cayman
Agate grey
20" Cayman S wheels in Satin
PASM
PDK
Debadge
Black twin tail pipes
Full leather (torn between black and burgundy seat belts or two tone black and red)
Multi functional steering wheel
Front and rear sensors
Heated seats
Sat Nav
Digital Rad
Smokers pack (just to cover up the hole in the center console)
Storage net
Love your views.
Ps I've come from a family of Porsche owners so know experienced all the old and new flat six. And I've now finally reached a time in my life I can afford one too 👍.

Nice spec. Agate with Satin wheels will be a spectacular combo I reckon.Ok I know purists aren't a fan of the new flat four but I thought it sounds pretty good in sport with the standard exhaust considering (I test drove a Cayman S). A couple of must-haves on your spec for me are missing. Rain sensors and Dual Climate (which is also Auto Climate). These two are standard on just about every other marque but are extras in the porker.
On the PSE, I'm coming from a similar place to you. New to Porsche, and out of an M235i. The BMW's 3.0l straight six does sound wonderful, deep and bassy, subtle pops on the overrun, and the thrilling whine of the turbine when that kicks in at around 3.5k revs. 718's 2.5l flat four isn't quite as appealing, but I did find that the PSE improved matters on my test drive. Adds a little more bass to the burble, more pops and bangs on the overrun, and overall quite a bit louder than when the PSE is switched off.
Speccing it for me was an easy choice. If you don't, might you always wonder what it would be like to have it?

Excellent spec, I've gone for very similar as you Agate, 20" satin, but with black/crayon, multifunction sports wheel as I thought the silver on the wheel would reflect the light/sun ?Ok I know purists aren't a fan of the new flat four but I thought it sounds pretty good in sport with the standard exhaust considering (I test drove a Cayman S). I drove demo with PSE, yes ok but I thought sounded a bit false & would upset the neighbours !
