Very good. Do add some Irnbru stickers! biggrin

Still looking forward to seeing Gentian Blue and Aventurine Green with my own eyes over here.

Haven't seen Aventurine Green in the flesh yet, but have spotted Gentian Blue in some showrooms recently and it's very nice indeed. Still do love Sapphire Blue though!

This will be my second 718 Cayman, and the sole reason for the change is simply because I fancy a new spec and switching from manual to PDK.

Order officially placed yesterday for a November build slot, so hopefully an early December handover.

So, final locked spec:

  • Lava Orange
  • PDK
  • 20" Carrera S wheels
  • Wheels painted in jet black metallic
  • SportDesign package in high-gloss black
  • Sports tailpipes in black
  • Rear wing in high-gloss black
  • Door handles in high-gloss black
  • Rear side air intakes painted black
  • Deletion of model designation
  • Bi-Xenon main headlights including PDLS
  • Cruise control
  • Seat heating
  • 2-way sports seats
  • Black Alcantara and leatherette seats

Has anyone else made the change from manual to PDK and did you ever end up regretting that decision? I did love PDK on the demo car I had for an afternoon, but I just hope that in the long run I don't end up missing a good old manual gearbox.

Fingers-crossed the next 2 months fly by! biggrin

I'd ditch the rear wiper, once moving the water comes right off.

True, but for a daily I'd keep it. If your first manoevre is backwards or for clearing snow or melted ice it is useful. Would be better if there was a washer - surprizingly there isn't.

Ditching the rear wiper and getting the reversing camera would be £218 well spent IMO (even though the camera is a bit crap)

the rear wiper is useful before you've moved though...

think morning dew all over the rear screen, which is pretty common from here til spring and need to reverse to manoeuvrer out.

i suppose rear camera is an alternative, assuming it stays clean and dew/frost free.

mine came with a wiper, and i'm glad it's got one.

Hi.

I'd like to pipe up and hopefully add some insight. Didn't have the funds for a new 718 Boxster S, but got the joy of trawling through the specs of Approved Pre-Owned up to 2 years old. Having owned 968 CS (4 cyl) and previous Boxster S (6cyl), both used as daily drivers, I love the technical & turbo noises coming from behind and LOVE the extra torque.
Anyway this is the great car I bought:
Carmine Red
Black 20 inch Carrera S
PASM (the ride is amazing even on the 20's, and tied down in the harder setting)
Sport-Tex leather interior in black
Sports seats Plus (2-way, electric)
Seat heating
Bi-Xenon main headlights in black including Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur
Automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensor
Electrically folding exterior mirrors including courtesy lighting
ParkAssist (rear)
GT sports steering wheel in Leather/Heated
I have Carmine Red painted elements in the car as well.

If I was spec'ing myself I would only have added:
Cruise control for the many average speed cameras
DAB (no dab but a cd player!!)
In my previous cars I had buckets, sense of occasion every drive, but you need to get on with them.
PTV with locking diff, no used cars I could find had this.
PASM (-20mm) instead of regular PASM, just for the sake of it.

I don't miss the sports exhaust. I have the car in sport all the time and it sounds great anyway, and quiet on a cruise in normal.

Enjoy your new cars, you will.

Yup, like that. I get to very similar on the configurator, usually Adventurine Green, SportTex seats and bose as well though. If its to be used as a daily rather than show pony, this set up seems to be tick all boxes!

I would have gone with SportTex, but had to draw the line due to costs. Adventurine Green really appealed, but couldn't see it at time of order (besides I like the fact that silver is quick n easy to clean - that said, I only cleaned my five Golf times in three years!) Bose ... my wife and kids tell me I'm deaf!

This is my new daily, to sit along side 04 Forester XT (I like 2.0 flat 4 turbos). PDK since it will have to sit in M25 traffic. 18s because they're free and can slap on winters. PASM so it'll be smooth on A12 concrete surface (and a little lower).

Show pony ... not my 718. Due in about 2 weeks :-)
