We've all been there.

Take my hat off to the guys who gave me a free courtesy car but its a 20 year old swedish convertible which is slower than a diesel in limp mode

rattles everywhere, radio dosent work, have to take my shoe off to change gear because it gets stuck under the dash, roof dosent work. i CAN hear wind all the time and it tries to conk out everywhere

Any great stories for courtesy cars?

When my defender broke down in a remote part of North Wales, the garage in a neighbouring village lent me a 20 year old Peugeot 106 with mould growing over the seats.

I've only ever had one, when my Cooper S was being repaired I had a Hyundai i10 for a week laugh

Gutless in comparison and very basic, but I actually really liked it, something endearing about a back-to-basics shopping cart of a car, no fluff, just gets you from A to B.

VERY VERY easy answer.

2013 1.4 petrol Corsa...auto. One of the most hateful things I have ever driven. Utterly gutless and charmless and as thirsty as my 9-5 Aero.

Rover 214 in early 2000s that didn't have a low fuel light wasn't great. Or the Laguna with a Stop/Start button that didn't want to stop or subsequently start. Mitsubishi Carisma for sheer dullness

However, a Pug 307 was definitely the worst though. Its self-cancelling indicators that were so heavily sprung they automatically switched on the opposite side was my favourite feature I think

An Alfa specialist lent me a 75 that was so shonky I could barely believe it was road-legal. Still got me to work and back.

I had for a few weeks from a body repair place a Corsa B with that terrible little 1.0 3-cylinder engine that made about 50bhp. My commuting route at the time had a junction on to a hill on a fast A-road. Needed an enormous gap to get out and up to speed without someone nearly rear-ending it. Awful thing.

Surely most Peugeots do that though...to account for the drivers inability to go in a straight line.

I had a VW Fox as a Courtesy car, that was awful.

Did a review, did do pictures but they've since disappeared from the internet.
Even trying to fill it up with fuel was a disaster.

Brand new Astra SRI whilst sorting out car insurance. Numb steering, no power, harsh ride and difficult to see out of. Bear in mind i had come out of a hardly modern 1999 Focus into this 2016 Astra. Yeuch no thankyou.

Yes. I've had
2 X 981 cayman s
981 boxster s

Although I've only had them for 3 days max. So not sure if it would be classed as full scale hire.

My heart bleeds at the thought of such a travesty!

My worst was a Ford Ka that had a missing rear window where it had been broken into and the stereo missing as it had been nicked ... Needless to say I didn't accept it and walked over the road to Enterprise and rented a polo which while gutless at least had all its windows present!
