I'm hoping to check it out in the flesh, it comes with the full leather interior, and is a sort of material; I just like the way to breaks up the interior, and it comes with silver stitching in the car, which is normally (laughably) chargeable.

Best pics I can find of it:

I have gone for all black.

I think it will be nicer in the summer and winter months.

Each time I go on the configurator, I end up with a different spec - its a standard 2.0 PDK Cayman.

This is the latest ...... http://www.porsche-code.com/PHZAI2L7

Question to the Porsche aficionados :

What is missing to ensure I don't get told at trade in time.... " sorry sir, we had to mark it down as it doesn't have ******** "

I will have a limited budget, so aiming around the £48-£49k absolute maximum.

Just my opinion of these seats after seeing the car at Goodwood ...

I sat in the 718 which had these seats, I wasn't aware of them until then. Loved the way the car looked in Miami Blue but I got out of the car and said to my dad 'oh I think they've stopped doing the alcantara seats as the standard and now doing these cloth seats, don't like that'.

Now, this was in a busy, rushed environment but nevertheless it was my first impression, that didn't like them as much as the normal alcantara seats of the 981. I actually thought they looked cheap.

I might change my mind when I see them next!

Also, this is coming from someone who can't afford a 718.

That's a good spec smile

I would save on Chrono and the white dial (for the chrono clock), add Nav, upgraded audio (do they still have a sound package plus option?)

Also maybe leather, with the 2 way electric seats.

That's my opinion anyways, I'm sure someone else will come along and say the opposite biggrin

Edit: To add maybe 2 zone climate too? Have heard a few peeps complain about the standard setup in the current 981

I think that the old Sound Plus package is now standard. Also, my understanding is that Connect with give me Apple CarPlay and I can get Nav, which I am not a big user of, on the screen. Get what you say about leather, need to see standard alcantara offering first.

Good news re sound package plus, with connect you're sorted if a Apple user, don't think it supports Android at this point in time.

I would like to know the differences between connect and connect+

If you dont have Nav then you can order Connect, if you order Nav then you have to order connect+. I am not an apple fanboy so ordered nav. The dealer explained that for the updates and traffic I need a data sim, which is crap so I did not order connect +

Interesting, I would have thought it would have used your phones data connection.

I know BMWs have SIMs, but they cover the data costs for 3 years

Thats what I would have thought, but unless my OPC have got it wrong (and they had been on a course about it), its a stupid system. Either it should be like BMW or at worst use the data plan on my phone I already have!

I personally wouldn't want 20" wheels - they spoil the ride (19s are a better compromise imo). If they are a must then I'd definitely go for PASM. I'd ditch Sport Chrono. Add climate (the standard system is manual) - it's not the 2 zone bit that is important. Nav is certainly helpful for resale, but I suspect it will be a dealer upgrade now, so perhaps not such a big issue if you wouldn't use it. SPP is now standard and I wouldn't "upgrade" to Bose (I'd be being kind if I said it was very ordinary).

Yes indeed, my M235i has a SIM with Vodafone. The live traffic info is v useful.

So with the 718, what option is there if you have an Android phone and spec the nav, but want live traffic info and updates?

Another person opting for the manual box. clap

Really like the look of the 20" Carrera Classic wheels; they're the ones I've gone for.

And the ceramic brakes to go with it - nicely done.

You've missed off climate control though.

Does anyone know when OPCs will get their hands on 718 Cayman demonstrators?

The East London one mentioned September, but not sure if anyone has heard any different?

Also, is there a way of getting more than a 10 minute round the block spin in one (without being someone who has bought many cars from the OPC in the past)?

I wouldn't bother with Bose or ceramics, I'd spend some of that money saved on sports bucket seats instead.

I have Bose in my 981 GTS, and given the amount of tyre roar and exhaust/engine noise, I'm pretty sure it's pointless. Unless you stand in traffic a lot of course.

In terms of ceramics, if you're speccing the Carrera Classic wheels, they hide brake dust *very* effectively so cosmetically there's won't be much difference. Also, in terms of performance, you don't need ceramics for the road and you don't really want them for track, and luckily Carrera Classic wheels are the second lightest option you can spec in 20" from memory so you'll have ditched some unsprung weight already.

Sports bucket seats really make my 981 GTS for me, they make it fee very special. I've driven other 981/991.2 cars without them and have really missed them. Have a sit in some if you haven't already, they're very comfortable and don't squeeze the hell out of you like the Carrera GT seats that were options on some GT3s

Not sure re the Cayman demo cars, re test drives, make it very clear you want a proper extended drive on multiple road types, any half decent dealer will facilitate and if they don't they're not worthy of your business.

You're spending a significant amount, make sure you get what you need to make a decision.

I had a extended drive in a 718 boxster with 20s (no PASM) and I was really surprised at how compliant it was, drove it over a real mixture of road types. I have always been in the PASM camp but that drive did have me questioning whether it was absolutely necessary.
