I drove the 718 Boxster today, in anticipation of seeing the 718 Cayman when it arrives in October. I have to say I was underwhelmed by the whole experience. I would be a PDK customer, the OPC know this, so I am sent out on a 10 minute escorted test drive in a 718 standard Boxster manual. From arrival to departure it was 30 minutes. The dealership was having an 'experience event' today so lots of customers through the door to test drive, I was not told about this when I booked the test drive two weeks ago. I just felt that I was just pushed through to test drive and on my way, didn't even have time to finish my coffee before the salesman led my to the door!
The Boxster was ok, but i didn't feel i had sufficient time to really enjoy the drive, and it was MANUAL! Their other Boxster S demo is PDK, but I wasn't down to drive that. I feel disappointed and very underwhelmed by the whole experience, on return to the dealership it seemed to be ...... place an order and give us £3000 deposit or goodbye and thanks, even though I had explicitly told the salesman that I would not commit until I have seen and driven a 718 Cayman.
So, even if I decide i want a Cayman, it ain't through that OPC!
There happened to be a newly opened Jaguar dealer next door, so I went and had a look at an F Type 3Ltr Supercharged Coupe - now there is a possible alternative to a Cayman!
That's a real shame. Quick check on the OPC website will give Dealer Principle email. Quick email summarising disappointing experience should see a decent test of a manual car I would have thought. The Boxster was ok, but i didn't feel i had sufficient time to really enjoy the drive, and it was MANUAL! I really am surprised at some of the comments re test drives / opc's and Guildford ....
I have a Cayman on order from Guildford and they have been nothing but helpful.
Prior to ordering I booked a test drive in a 718 Boxster - when I arrived both the basic and S demos had been reserved for me - and not a short test drive either ....... I could take each car for an hour so I could get a good feel for them.
That's service .
Glad to hear it; hope they have upped their game, they have been nothing but useless to me, and I know a number of other people who had issues with new cars/orders.I have a Cayman on order from Guildford and they have been nothing but helpful.
