Looking back at the receipts from when my local Indy replaced my strut mounts the parts came to £200 (mounts, top cups and strut bearings), a couple of hours labour and a geo - so nowhere near the £1200 ballpark Porsche wanted. Crazy!

Their prices are just insane. In addition to this steering madness, I was given a quote for Cooling fans resistors change as they were not running on stage 1 (super-common fault on all 986 & 987). The bill was 400 GBP, only to change resistors. I got a barely used pair of Cooling fans with working resistors from a donor car, both of them only costed 50 GBP and my indy took care of it less than an hour. biggrin

You've got to love OPC's and their ludicrous prices. My local one quoted me £340 for an engine oil and filter change!! I mean really ffs.

Just to relive this thread, took the motor out today and it has been on for the warmer days so far this year. Notice as I pulled in to park the steering was a little noisy. Really alarmed to read this thread and see some of the figures quoted!

Is this something that would show up on an MOT at all? Secondly I'm one week into ownership and have a garage 3 month warranty so should be covered?

Cheers cmoose. Been following your advice and comments on here for a few years so is nice to actually speak on actual ownership!

Was curious as the dealer I bought from put it through Mot the day before I collected with no advisories so wanted to know if it was something that would or could have been flagged?

Similar issue from me on a 996 turned out to be lower coffin arm ball joint. No play just a creak when the steering wheel was turned while stationary. I sprayed everything but couldn't shift the noise till I swapped out the arm. It sounded just like a spring/top mount issue but no.

Gents, FYI my repair was just over £400 from Parr. Parts were covered by my 3rd party warranty.

The 2.5 hour front geo afterwards wasn't, but that's another story...
May I ask if that was £400 exc parts or including parts? I realise you didn't pay for the parts but since I use Parr and have a similar noise in my 987.2 S I was hoping it may be £400 all inc!

Thanks. JM
