Check out this one.

Not only is the car great but the photography is great.

I am seriously tempted to buy it myself despite the fact the garage is already full.

I would ditch the others and drive north tomorrow to view this, early bird and all that

That one is rather nice, not sure how sold I am on Peridot green but otherwise it does look great, may need to go down to Stirling for a look I reckon. Cheers!

Also intrigued to know, seems you have to be signed up and have a minimum number of posts to see the content...

I only ever thought it was up to Stirling...... 😀

I think that green is great and the fact it was only available on the R makes it a bit more special.

I also like the yellow one at top555.

Good luck with your search, keep us posted if you take the plunge please.

Cheers

The yellow one at Top555 is a pretty cool looking machine. Definitely need to have a sit in the Sports Buckets to see if that's make or break. Anyone from Aberdeen area currently have an R I could take a look at?

How much to change the seats for OEM buckets?

OP surely you need to compare same age car not a gen1 S v gen2 R and then it's £20k more.., well it isn't really as one has more time depreciation.

Is be thinking what IF the R holds or has a shallower depreciation curve than the S then all up its a cheaper car to own and it's he better car to look at and to drive.

I have the same much lauded carbon backed seats in my Boxster Spyder and despite the fact they are much more upright than I would choose and tight across the shoulders they are quite comfortable.

I actually don't think not having the carbon backed seats is as much as a big deal as some would suggest. I would choose one with over one without just because the majority think they will be essential at point of re sale but I would never spend anything significant to get them over one without.

You're quite right - it would be more sensible to compare a similarly specced Cayman S rather than an Gen 1 but I'm just going with what's in stock at my OPC to be honest!

Pretty much discounted a Gen 1 to be honest, I think the changes that were made with the Gen 2 are worth paying a bit more for and perhaps the reassurance that bore scoring and IMS failures aren't such an issue.

Intriguing chat around the Sports Buckets, I have to say that the silver R that I've linked to in the first post is a very attractive option with the Sports seats...

Cheers CMoose - good to know that it's an enthusiast car and that there's nothing sinister about it!

Yep I reckon that's the same car too, good sleuthing Sir.

Would it be improper to ask what the spread on the sale price is?

The ad on the club website is pretty much as per the ad on the link posted for the trader ad. Dunc looked after that car, I'd consider it seriously if I were in the market for one.

And Moose is right in his general assumptions above I'd say.

That looks a really tidy car and thanks to cmoose's detective work looks like it was previously owned by an enthusiast with a great spec and with no obvious skeletons in the cupboard.

If I was in the market for one I would definitely go and have a go in this and then make my mind up.

Good luck in your search.

Definitely sounds like the same car from how the adverts are written and looks a lot better value than the one at Aberdeen OPC to be honest. Guess Peridot is a bit of a classic colour for these but I'm stil not sure I love it! Will be heading down past Stirling in the next couple of weeks so will see about stopping by to see it...

Had both, still got the R. If funds permit, get an R, they're about 10% better in every department IMO and the S is a pretty great car in its own right. Buckets are fine (6ft, 14 st) and even though sports seats wouldn't spoil my pleasure of the car one jot, cars without buckets tend to hang around much longer. Incredibly spec sensitive cars these but there are enough cars out there so either be patient and get one with the generally accepted ideal spec or don't pay over the odds for a car without it. Happy hunting....!

"but there are enough cars out there"

yep prob all of 40 manual cars with buckets, Spyder wheels in the UK lol

the perfect spec has never come up or was prob never even made, so you have to take a hit on some options and buy on condition and now it's getting a bit older mileage is coming into it a bit.

OPC network don't have any manuals with buckets either.

buy that stirling car asap it's a mega deal imo for £39k
