Lee in CS, PGB, was "mistaken". What he should have said is service it elsewhere and you THEN have to have an OPC major service, to re-apply a Porsche warranty to the car, as under, just in...

"Thank you for your call this afternoon.

Regrettably, the Porsche Approved Warranty documentation I referred too is now invalid. You will be provided with the new document policy when the warranty is applied to your vehicle as this is now automated. Should you be unhappy with the policy, please be advised that you have 14 days to cancel providing it has not been claimed upon.

In reference to the servicing enquiry, when applying a Porsche Approved Warranty to your vehicle, Porsche will require the vehicle to have a full Porsche Maintenance Service.

Should you wish to have your vehicle maintained outside of the Porsche network, this is acceptable, however, should you then wish to apply a Porsche Approved Warranty, you would need to have a Major Maintenance Service carried out by a Porsche Centre before applying the warranty. This is due to the Porsche Approved Warranty policy being a Porsche Insurance product which must have met Porsche regulations.

Kind regards

I'm "happy" now... briefly...

That could be a short term saving

To the majority a Full Porsche Service History (well at least stamps in the book ) is important when buying a car, so you could get hit more when you come to sell.
Yes, I understand this. I'd likely use indy prices to beat down nearby OPC's.

What is PADM???
PADM is Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts. A damper that works according to how hard the car is being driven. It loosens the connection between engine and chassis for a supple experience or becomes almost locked to make engine and chassis one unit for best handling.

Well, apart from the OPC saying my number plates were illegal (they weren't) my 981 flew through it's 1st MOT with no issues.

2yr warranty done £1190 (£1270 is for cars without a current warranty). £1,460 all in with 111 point check & MOT. Hooray! smile

I've had two replaced in three years on my CGTS. An indie advised me to use the car more ☺️ 9500 miles in three years, only wish I had more time. I will contact my OPC for a two year extension quote. The 981 is such a great all round car and has proved to be, so far, comparatively inexpensive to run. Indie or OPC?

A large proportion of the 111 point checks are carried out as part of the service so you should not be charged the full cost of the check if warranty is taken out at the same time. Always go for the 2 year warranty if you can, not only is the premium slightly cheaper per annum but you don't have to have a111 point check at the end of year 1. Our car is a keeper, so I plan to take a 1 year warranty out next March when the original warranty expires, then take 2 year warranties out after that to coincide with the servicing schedule.

My Boxster S is in with a PADM fault and the damper has to be shipped from Germany because it is such a rare option, it is not held in stock.

If I see the bill and it turns out to be very large I will be looking to renew in 2 years time !
Same here - but it only took a few days to get the replacement mount in, and to be honest I couldn't tell any difference in the car's handling with " PADM disabled". When I reported the fault the service advisor told me to continue to drive as normal but avoid any track days until fixed. It's not that rare, all 981, 991 and 718 cars with Sport Chrono option have active drive train mounts, I believe they are fitted to the gearbox in mid engined cars and the engine on rear engined ones.

How do you know when the dynamic engine mounts fail? Is there an error message on the dash or can you feel it?

For some reason image posted upside down from my iPhone! This only seems to happen when I attempt to upload photos to Pistonheads

Thanks for the photo.

I've had solid engine/transmission mounts fitted to cars in the past and I've always liked them, I can't tell any difference though when I use sports plus!

Like I said, illegal.

Read 1, 2, 3, here: http://ec.europa.eu/competition/sectors/motor_vehi...

You don't even have to use Porsche parts.
The warranty doesn't say you can't use "pattern" parts, it says it doesn't cover failures caused by the use of non-genuine parts. Not sure many dealers would understand that (or want to). It is unfortunate that enforcing your statutory rights generally means understanding them really well, or paying a solicitor to understand them for you. I'm sure it was ever thus.

Sounds like you had a great deal - did that price include roadside assistance?

No, my car insurance covers that so I didn't add it.

Has anyone extended their warranty or know if you are able to for a single year to bring it back in line with the service schedule?

Downside is you have to pay £216 each year for the 111 point check whereas buying 2 years means you only pay this every two years.

BUT... you may get the check for free if it coincides with a service. Swings...

Thanks, that was my thinking, keen to avoid the check given any time it's needed anything from tyres to first mot it's gone to OPC.

My warranty is up in May so just spoke to Porsche Reading about renewing.

111 Point Check is £270 and 2 years additional warranty is £1,190. Sounds like this is probably the going rate and there's no negotiation?

I presume this includes Porsche Assistance, roadside cover?

Would say that doesn't include roadside assistance at that price.

My local PC quotes £1,020 for one year or £1,840 for two plus assistance at £169 or £275.

111 point check is £180 inc. VAT or £90 with service.

Here are the last prices I had, roadside is usually additional I think:

111 point check - £252.00 Inc. VAT

12 months Porsche Approved Warranty - £660.00
24 months Porsche Approved Warranty - £1,190.00

12 months Porsche Assistance - £175.00
24 months Porsche Assistance - £285.00
