718 PDK review. A bit overly damning to the point where I'd start taking it with a pinch of salt. I'm sure I read other reviews that had a preference for the manual. http://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/boxster/17792/porsche...

It was in response to the PDK conversation, I forgot to quote one though. I've driven both and am keener on a getting the manual 718 cayman over the PDK.

Thanks for that. That guy can pedal a car cant he? INteresting to see how close they sit.

It's all irrelevant in the real world of course, but interesting it's ten seconds quicker than the car it replaces and only four seconds behind the GT4

"How much faster is a the 718S round a slow moving caravan on a twisty A-road than the GTS?" would be a bigger question for me. Have only driven the old Cayman S and new 718 and 718 S, with and without PDK. Would be very surprised if the GTS holds a candle to the turbo cars on the "real" road, but round a track without traffic I bet there's less in it.

Everyone seems to be talking about the loss of the 6-cylinder soundtrack, but the midrange "oomph" of the new engines is staggering compared directly with the last generation.

Good video BTW. The cars might be fairly forgiving, but the driver is more than a bit good. Enjoyed watching the lap immensely.

" and if it doesn’t sound quite as melodic as its predecessor, its aural delights don’t disappoint. You can simply switch off the sports exhaust if you find it unnecessarily boomy"

If i could be bothered to find a facepalm pic I would insert one here --->

It seems that all of the reviews of late are much more positive than the initial one's...

Some awesome pictures in that review.

Gotta say, Silver with the Carrera classic 20" looks spectacular.

That looks great.

Presume that is Rhodium Silver rather than GT silver?

Yep.

Something else I just spotted in the article too ...

"Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available are also available."

Never heard of Android Auto? Perhaps this is something you can only spec in the States, as it doesn't seem to be mentioned here in the UK. Unless I've missed it ... confused
