Nice detailed write-up s3 akr. thumbup
I would echo those comments, having owned a CR since 2012 and I still have it, similar spec to yours incl alcantara steering wheel / door armrests / gearshift and handbrake covers too.
Good luck to the OP on your search, find one and drive it before summer is over!

Number of owners - didn't bother me for a 2011 car as the condition was spot on. My cousin works for an OPC (not the one I purchased from) and his view was to expect multiple owners but 4 was the limit in his view.
Mine has had more owners than I would have liked. A friend's CR has also had more than he would have liked. So it seems quite common for a CR to have had 4 or 5 previous owners. I put this down to those earlier owners not being able to get on with the seats and the firm ride which means they bought if for the wrong reasons. As you say it's a car that should be bought for its driving experience and not bought just to be seen in.

Yes thanks for talking the time to do that write up - makes it sound a fantastic car and just what I'm looking for.

I'm still looking for something that I think ticks most of my boxes. I have to say though I have noticed that the ones on the market in the last month don't seem to be selling. In the past month since I have been looking I think only 2 have sold (peridot green in Sterling and one at OPC). What's people's view on this - is this normal for this type of car or are they all over priced?

no good specs imo, good cars seem to sell, top555 sold their green car in a few days, other cars sell fast, the ones hanging about just don't have the 4 or 5 main items for the now VERY fussy market.
I think the right spec cars seem to shift on quite fast at £45k

Great write up that. As another fairly new owner, not a lot I would disagree with (particularly as the spec on mine is identical even down to the alcantara steering wheel..!)

Within another few years, most of these cars will have 5+ owners. Whether it's an itch scratched, can't get away with the buckets or the ride or the simple ease of moving them on, this will keep owners high. Mine's had 4 including me but I'm hoping that will correct itself by the time I come to sell it in 5+ years time (i.e. 3 previous owners on a 10 year old car will be fine).

It's actually worth getting the ownership history from DVLA. Bought a CSL recently with 6 owners, turns out first two were dealers which puts a slighty different slant on it - it hasn't been a track-warrior-pool-car after all. Another car I've owned with high owners was owned by the same person 3 times and another owned by 3 members of the same family.

Been driving it all week before it goes away for the Winter, what a blast, 2nd gear, PSE on, nail it & wow......!

I had a last minute spec change and removed it from mine at order, so pleased I did. Looks better and I coated the rear window in a hydrophobic coating which has performed beautifully.

After a few days of thinking I've decided I am actually open to the idea of letting my R go depending on price obviously 😉

Not going to advertise it as not in a hurry to let her go as she is so much fun but not using it for the reason I bought it and it is a toy that I really don't need!

You'd need to be brave to take this on....!

Suspect it would say: manual, buckets, spyders and buy for as near to £40k as you can.....

My 2 penneth of input as a fairly new CR owner (since May 21st).I wanted an R for it being the supposed pinnacle of the range, a Porsche "special" and for the rarity. I didn't look at or drive an S as I really wanted an R, and something that would not depreciate at all quickly.

Its a car - not an investment! It'll depreciate slowly, but my view is that unless it's a museum piece it'll not go up in price. Buy on that basis and then if it does go up you've got a bonus! I bought mine to use - but only for 3k miles or so a year as a weekend toy.

Spec is all important and you need to hold out for it. The cars at OPC are top dollar and you need to protect that outlay so be fussy. Mine is white, manual, black spyders, carbon seats, PSE, nav, sports chrono, no rear wiper, no cup holders, 29k miles, 4 owners. Mileage and number of owners on the limit admittedly - beyond the limit for some.

Number of owners - didn't bother me for a 2011 car as the condition was spot on. My cousin works for an OPC (not the one I purchased from) and his view was to expect multiple owners but 4 was the limit in his view.

Mileage - I prefer a car that has been used reasonably regularly. I've had ultra low mileage cars with a few years on them in the past and they have been a pain with dry seals/rubbers and other such stuff. I wouldn't rule out low milers, but wasn't concerned at 29k either.

My view on essentials is all the things my car does have. Bose would have been nice as would Xenons, but how far do you go before you dilute the ethos of the R ? For me adding leather trims etc and cup holders starts to eat into that. I cut all cars with the rear wiper off my list as it's ugly, but that is simply personal choice. If it does not have carbon seats or spyder wheels, don't bother. Also look for the tracker system (VTS) which may help insurance. Alcantara steering wheel is nice too!

For me the PCCB's were a real difficult one. I had been sniffing around a perfect spec, peridot car at Camerons for a while that was at a great price, but the more I researched the PCCB's that it had, the more I realised that the replacement costs and fear of damage to them would take the edge off the ownership experience. That was a financial concern that I could not really live with. You might be in a stronger position and not have that same concern, or are willing to accept that steel rotors can be swapped out for around £3k if required (and the calipers are huge on the PCCB setup so perhaps worth it).

PDK vs Manual - if these cars do increase in value then the manual will be the desirable spec. PDK is good, but not the purist choice, and these cars attract purists! That said, they are about 100 of each registered in the UK presently. Very even distribution. In your case, you have a potential need for PDK and you might as well buy the version that you can drive and enjoy as and when you want without fear of pain!

Colour - I don't like the silver contrasting trims on black/blue cars - side vents look "aftermarket". Not keen on yellow. Peridot splits opinion but as the launch colour will always do well on resale. Love red, white, silver but at the end of the day, its all about personal choice and we all have our opinions on best colour. But it is white with black wheels!

Expect the front end to have been resprayed by OPC.

The OPC invoice I have shows the car, the warranty, any included road tax, and breakdown cover all listed as individually priced items that in total reflect the price negotiated from the advertised price (I managed to get £1300 discounted but really had to push. Was offered nearly £1k more off if I reduced warranty to 1 year, but for me that then questions why I was going to OPC!). Helps convince the Mrs that I paid less for the actual car!

The drive - yes suspension is hard, but as you gather pace it starts to make sense as you can get a really nice flow to the drive with the suspension being well controlled and keeping it all in check. The steering feel is fantastic and you know exactly what is happening underneath you. It copes well with undulations and some of the poor road surfaces we have. Brakes aren't the most feelsome but then you can fix that with a GT3 master cylinder apparently. Around town, it is hard - no denying. But who cares when you're in a car this good! Road noise isn't exactly low - but then when pressing on it all adds to the drama and the experience.

The engine noise - PSE, 6 cylinders, 3.4 and 330bhp (figures quoted seem to vary from source to source!). You won't get engines like this anymore. Just read any review of a 718 and it always concludes "an excellent car with a poor engine note" or similar. The engine sound is such a big part of the driving experience in these cars. Performance suits the chassis and is well matched. It feels barely any quicker than my Golf R but that is turbo and therefore very torquey so possibly just a perception.

Running costs - on a run, 34mpg is achievable but that isn't the point! Servicing etc - certainly looks to be less than an M3. Seems to be a little over that of a Golf R / Audi S3.

Lastly - I am not saying all the above is absolute - it's just my view and contains some of the things I looked at, considered and determined as essential for me when choosing my car. Mileage and owners is the weak spot, but spec should help balance that (I hope). I've only covered about 1100 miles in mine and half of that has been motorway work so I haven't really got to know the car properly in terms of "on the limit" handling etc. One day I shall get there! I love mine and every drive is still an occasion.
Thank you for taking the time to write that up, very informative

Have tried some lovely lovely exiges also, lovely cars and maybe more of an occasion car. Tempted by a yellow club racer to look at when back from hols.
Cheers everyone

Hi guys,
I have put a deposit down on a GT3 so my R will be on the market with in the next week.

Had the OPC warranty and roadside cover renewed last week (for 2 years) MOT getting done in the next 10 days, had new tyres and brakes over the last 2 weeks as well. Wants for nothing. She is a great spec, in white done 17,900 miles.
Message me if interested

The car for sale on PCGB is my car, I bought it after selling one of my 964RS recently and having been super-impressed by Boxsey's car.

On reflection it's a blinding car but just not for me - it is absolutely mint and as described in the ad - never had any paint and stone chip free due to the paint film on the front end (recently removed).

Comes complete with an OPC warranty to April and nothing to spend.....

I will probably go more old school for my next motor which probably means I am also getting old :-))
