Just got a call from my OPC this afternoon about my mid-July Cayman order. They have been allocated just one Cayman base model for January-February delivery, and have been given no information whatsoever on further deliveries due to operational issues at the factory. They understand if I wish to cancel my order, and anticipate but cannot confirm they will have a car for me in March or April.

A bit disappointing to say the least. I wonder if Porsche UK are hoping for cancellations on cars ordered at 2016 prices?

Liam
I'm in almost an identical situation to you, although my dealer seemed more optimistic that Porsche would release some further slots for Q1 soon (might have just been telling me what I wanted to hear though).

Regarding your comment around price, I dont think that is the case. If you check your paperwork, you'll find that your price isn't locked in anyway. You'll still be subject to any 2017 price rise. The price only gets locked when you have lock down on your spec and your car is going into build.

Sorry to hear that Liam. Disappointing to say the least. I would stick in there though as you know it's what you want. Edo's patience wore out and he's now in an M5 and happy but if it's a 2-seater sports coupe you desire then you know it makes sense to wait smile

Definitely hanging in for this one. Not bothered how many seats I get, just want something as delightful handling as my GT86. Not much hardship using that in the meantime.

Think the spec might grow a tiny bit while I'm waiting.

I ordered 4th July, have told dealer my final spec & they were hoping to hear in their Nov allocation for next qtr, but I've heard nothing !.............due to pos price rise & increased tax in April............Jag F type is looking extremely tempting as I can have a new one in March. Would be a shame if I cancelled as never had a Porsche & was really looking forward to the 718 as looks a great car.

I ordered mine in May and took delivery yesterday, so about 6 months but they hadn't started production when I ordered - whether this makes it longer or shorter I have no idea

The way my OPC has always worked is initial deposit 3k and on final spec/lockdown you pay 10% of final invoice price -deposit would assume most the same-they never tell you this up front just know from experience if you get away without paying it lucky you

Must vary by OPC policy.

Family member bought a Macan and only ever paid the £3k deposit which is already in build.

Rest is due on delivery.

My OPC is Sytner & paid 3k with order (July) & on lockdown of spec then 10% of order value required less the 3k already paid, this was confirmed again yesterday.

Deposit early September for Cayman base model PDK circa 49K.
Originally 'promised' 1st quarter delivery 2017 to avoid VED rises.
Apparently I am 12/20 on the list.
OPC rang yesterday to announce that they have only been allocated 1 base Cayman in 1st quarter.
Speculatively announced that I would now receive car in Q2, but my guess is nobody really knows/cares.
This was to be my 4th Porsche from this OPC.
I am now thinking of alternatives, but not now the Audi TTRS, as apparently they are already sold out for 2017.
Is this the German Car industry taking the p*** after Brexit ,or is it just business, selling products in areas with stronger currencies.

frown

Problem is, what alternatives? F Type?

So that's you and Liam, anyone else having issues with this? The delay is one thing, but the increased tax costs are a massive PITA

I dont understand, are Porsche trying to play the market by restricting supply, 1 car for Q1 is ridiculous.

3k placed on order & 10% ( less 3k already paid) due on spec lockdown, balance on collection
