Cayman 718 Delivery dates

Does anyone know if these lack of build slots are exclusive to the Cayman or is the Boxster also similarly affected?
I put down a deposit mid October on a base boxster and will be locking down the spec next week with an expected delivery at the end of Jan. When I asked about a Cayman I was told there was no chance of getting one before April when the road tax goes up, so quite a difference between the cayman and boxster lead times.Okay, so here's a theory....
Anyone noticed how the GFV that Porsche themselves have set after 3 years is higher for a Cayman (£25k) then a Boxster (£22.9k) despite the Boxster's higher initial sale price?
Assuming that these GFV values are closely linked to CAP prices, am guessing that Porsche will need to restrict Cayman supplies in order to retain the proposed residual value of Cayman's in the future?

That's a interesting one, I was thinking price rises in 2017Anyone noticed how the GFV that Porsche themselves have set after 3 years is higher for a Cayman (£25k) then a Boxster (£22.9k) despite the Boxster's higher initial sale price?

Have to agree with Ikonic . I have also noticed the disparity in GFVs between Boxster and Cayman but why would the factory want to favour one over the other ? One assumes the Cayman is easier to build so why restrict supply and put people off ordering one ! I am also going to have to wait until at least Q2 to get a base one but that is still quicker than the other sought after piece of metal of 2016 - a ceramic Daytona ! I can't even get on the waiting list for that one.
Trouble is the more difficult it is to get a new Cayman / Boxster the more I want one and will have to put up with the extra tax . Maybe the residuals will make up for the extra expense .

At least with the 981; Boxsters were built at the Porsche factory whilst Caymans were mostly build at the VW factory. Not sure what the deal is the 718, people who have a car would have to look at their VIN to find out where it is manufactured.Trouble is the more difficult it is to get a new Cayman / Boxster the more I want one and will have to put up with the extra tax . Spec lock down not required yet.
Speculative delivery April 2017, but could run later into Q2, outside chance they might release more cars in Q1, but that seems less likely.
Longest I have ever waited for pretty well anything mass produced.
I had quite a long chat with one of the sales managers at the local OPC on Friday, primarily to double check I hadn't been bumped. I haven't, and just one car allocated for Q1 2017 seems to be an issue for many UK dealers. I was feeling a little fed up about it last week, but it is what it is. It can't harm resale values, they will remain a very rare car to see on the road next year, I'm keeping half an eye out for a base 981 to tide me over, but I think it's just a case of enjoying the anticipation. If anyone's ordering a car today, they'll probably get a similar or slightly shorter wait than I've experienced.
So it's longer than I anticipated, but I can't think of any other car I'd want. Think I'm just going to hang in there - but got to be said the Porsche ordering system is pretty idiosyncratic. Don't know about now, but even Morgan used to be able to give a better idea of delivery dates - even if they were kind of long!

Contacted dealer on Thursday for update on Cayman S order it now turns out car due in to dealer next week. Was advised by salesman on lockdown that 'nothing happens until delivery in first week of December and dates only vary by a couple of days'. Although this is good news I wonder why salesman is so poor at communicating as car must have been in production and in transit to U.K. Last week and they can access this information from the factory. Is this lack of communication normal or is it down to the sales guy?
For information the deposit was paid May 3rd, lock down September 30th.
